Get ready for a brand new game!
It's based upon the following idea: someone will post a picture that is in some way related to (the name of) a fragrance. Every member will then be able to guess that particular name. For instance, a picture of the Nile river and a garden near it could translate into Un Jardin sur le Nil.
The rules are quite simple:
** Post a picture that refers to a fragrance. It doesn't necessarily have to be an existing image, you can also come up with a combination of images or create/shoot something yourself. Be creative.
** If your picture appears to be too hard to solve, you can give a few hints later on. For instance, mention that the fragrance's name is French.
** Please respect the web traffic and copyright of other people. It's recommended to upload your image to a free hosting service such as TinyPic , ImageShack , or Xs.to so that the original uploader won't suffer from hotlinking. Also, make sure the filename ('nameoftheimage.jpg') does not reveal the answer.
** Once one is solved, feel free to post a new challenge. If you've posted an image, please check back to the thread often to see if people have guessed the scent's name.
** If the poster of a puzzle does not return to the thread in a fair amount of time, other members are free to come up with a new one. The previous poster can still confirm later whether or not people were right in their guessing.
** For those creating puzzles: when confirming the right answer please include the house to allow easier archiving of the thread.
** Please note: everyone is greatly encouraged to guess along. However, this has to be an equally fun game for all members and therefore, everyone guessing is kindly asked to contribute to the thread by creating a challenge yourself every now and then. Don't let the guessers keep guessing and the creators creating, but be creative instead.
** Motivate your guessing, i.e. mention why you think it's this or that fragrance.
** Please only use fragrances that are listed in the Basenotes Fragrance Directory (over 10.000 listed). This way, people who are not familiar with a certain scent can still play along.
** For all other cases, please refer to the Basenotes Forum Rules.
The list of fragrances used in the past became too long and was not really useful any longer. So, it is deleted. For those who are curious, part of it is still visible on Part One.
Have fun!!
