Curious about Rochas Man, but already have Body Kouros...

From reading the site, it sounds like they are familiar. If I already have Body Kouros would Rochas Man be a good purchase? Thanks for the time.

I have Rochas Man and am a bit curious about Body Kouros. The nice thing about Rochas Man is that it is available as a mini. Unless I am mistaken, samples and minis of Body Kouros are about impossible to come by. For me, Rochas Man is a perfect scent for days when I want to smell a bit chocolatey.

I only got to paper sample once Body Kouros and it didn't seem like it was anything like Rochas Man so I think there could be a place in your wardrobe of both. I wasn't too fond of BK but really enjoy RM so it's really to your taste.

sampling is best but they overlap quite a bit.
I find rochas man even sweeter and more cloying tbh.

i love both fragrances. They are different. I don't know what you think of body kouros but to me, it reminds me of lolita lempika au masculine without the anise. However it adds incense which becomes more predominant for me. However, rochas man has more of a french vanilla mocha vibe to it. They aren't alike at all. On my skin it starts off with a lot of like, sugar and lavender. The lavender for me is there throughout the frag and more chocolate and vanilla comes out. But just my opinion. French vanilla mocha lavender

Yes they are different enough to own both.

Rochas man is more youthful with distinct coffee note. Its my SOTD. It has sugary sweetness with something that I call for myself "dirty flowers" accord.
Body Kouros is more sexy, sweetness reminds me honey or Le Male.

IMO Rochas is more versatile than BK.

They are both excellent frags.

You can get a sample from Scented Monkey -- it's listed as Kouros Body -- or from The Perfumed Court.

Edit: Oops, never mind, you've already got BK and are considering RM; luckily Scented Monkey can also supply a RM sample...

I have both and don't find them similar other than they are sweet. I much prefer Body Kouros as it's not as sweet as Rochas Man.

RM is sweeter and BK more medicinal. They are different enough to justify owning both IMO.

Hmm, how do I explain this.

Body Kouros (and all this talk has made me get my bottle and give myself a good coating of it) gets its sweetness from a note that is almost buttery and creamy, for want of better words, thick and heavy. Plus since its Benzoin there is an almond/marzipan thing in there at the start if you concentrate. This sweetness is tempered by the spicy and smokey aspects and turn the whole scent into one of the great masculines, but its still 'thick'. Its a brute of a fragrance (not Brut, but a brute), a powerhouse oriental, and thats why I like it.

Rochas Man seems to get its sweetness from sugar, and then the Mocha gourmand aspect is added, which doesn't really make it sweeter, just more foody. The sugar sweetness doesn't come across with that thick and heavy vibe. Then the Lavender, which is quite herbal, seems to lighten the smell further.

You can easily justify owning both, about the only thing they have in common is that they are sweet, personally cannot see why this comparison has come up so often (see the Similar Threads below). I dont have RM, but I would have both, except that I'm looking at some other options for a chocolate based fragrance.

They both live in the same neighborhood but they are quite different scents. If you like sweet or gourmand scents, you could easily have both. They do not smell alike. Rochas Man is much more foody and is probably more "youthful." You already know Body Kouros.
