Im really not a fan of gourmands. But when I do find one I like, I usually love it. For example, Bond's New Haarlem. It's one of my favorite scents.

Just curious what your favs are.

I don't mind Attitude but I don't think of it as a gourmand because the lavender and patchouli are so strong. Instead, I'd say Jacomo for Men (also called "Silver"), because none of the major notes clash with the gourmand idea, at least as it exists in my mind.
I`m not a big fan of gourmands, but I like New Haarlem.
A*Men of course, Rochas Man is a little less than my favorite simply cause it wears off too damn fast
post #9 of 77
New Haarlem
Pure Malt
Hypnotic Poison
Rochas Man

in that order
Not my favourite genre but Rochas Man is the one I genuinely love.
Tobacco Vanille
Pure Coffee
Pure Malt
Casual Friday
Santal Noble

I like many notes in New Haarlem, but it would be better if they take out the "grape candy" note, and used more tonka or vanilla, instead of the "transparent" sweetener Bond uses. Even isobutavan like the muglers would be better than the bond sweetener imo. that said the coffee and cocoa notes in New Haarlem are very good.
My favorite these days is Bois Farine, although maybe it's not a conventional gourmand. From the L'Artisan line I also like Tea for Two, Mechant Loup, and Havana Vanille.

Others:
Ava Luxe - Cafe Noir
Guerlain - L'Instant Pour Homme EDP

I should revisit New Haarlem, it's been a long time...
I love my gourmands. From what I own and use:

Red Aoud
Un Bois Vanille
Aomassai
Tabocco Vanille
Vanille Aoud
Santal de Mysore
Borneo 1834
I guess Rochas Man for now. However, if I had a full size bottle of Tobacco Vanille, I'd occasionaly like that s'more-like
drydown.
Favorite gourmand is it? Well, what first comes to mind is PG's Aomassai, Tobacco Vanille, and L'olita Lempicka.
Sables is my current favorite gourmand.
I like L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme Extreme.

Also, Antico Caruso. Not sure if it's a true gourmand, but the almond note is pretty prominent.

Rochas Man is very nice too, but it tends to make ME hungry. Not the effect I'm looking for.
I like:

Rochas Man
PG Un Crime Exotique
Hilde Soliani Ciocospezissimo

Mmm, I love gourmands ... yummy yummy!

- Hypnotic Poison (stands above all others in the genre ...)

- Noix de Coco (cheap ass coconut fragrance from Yves Rocher)
- Dior Addict (maybe not a gourmand per see, but, damn, I wanna drink/eat it)
- Dior Homme Intense (chocolate creme de la creme)
- Vanilla Vanille (classic from The Body Shop)
- HdP 1804 (maybe it's a fruity floral, but I get a lot of pineapple)

... to name a few!

Tobacco Vanille by Tom Ford
My top 5 favorite gourmands right now are: Samba Kiss Me, Bod Man-Body Heat Sexy X2, Tobacco Vanille, Lolita Lempicka, and Thallium. For what it's worth, Thallium may not be classified as a gourmand, but to me it is. It's like a fruity/vanilla gourmand.

Honorable mentions: Le Male/Cuba Gold, Animale Animale, Jacomo de Jacomo Rouge, Rochas Man, B*Men.
Rahat Lokhoum by Keiko Mecheri
Chinatwon by Bond9
Bois Farine
The one I use most often is Fourreau Noir (Serge Lutens). Since I'm not terribly good at gourmands - this being on the verge serves me well when I have a sweet tooth.
There are days I find Le Male gorgeous, in particular when it's really nasty outside (rain, wind, cold).

A*MEN
Dior Homme Intese
L'Instant de Guerlain
Rochas Man - Only thing I have against it is that it wears off too quickly, LOVELY smell though
Angel Men - Love it or hate it, I frigging love it, I love the dry down
Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin - Received a tonne of compliments, amazing fragrance, refreshing on a cold winter day/night

I would like to try..

Angel Men Pure Malt - So expensive and so hard to find
New Haarlem - Heard many good things about it
Hanae Mori HM for Men - Heard a lot of good things about it too

Can someone describe New Haarlem and Hanae Mori for me please? Much appreciated.

Tobacco Vanille
Aomassai
Back to Black
Frapin 1270 (to me, anyway)
Armani Attitude
Rochas Man
Penhaligon's Endymion
L'Instant de Guerlain
Definetly A Men, but Rochas is a close second
post #32 of 77
I find it interesting that there have been no votes for Givenchy Very Irresistible...Not too popular around here. I wouldn't vote for it either quite frankly. My list in no particular order:

1) Lolita Lempicka - best worn in the fall
2) Rochas Man - all-around maybe the most approachable and agreeable of the genre (very well received)
3) Animale Animale - distinctly masculine and it smolders with audacious sillage and admirable longevity

Notables: Opium (verges on gourmand), B*Men, Body Kouros (almost in the genre)

Interested in trying Tobacco Vanille, New Haarlem, and L'Instant de Guerlain (both the EDT & EDP)
I've always loved AMen, but I find B9's New Haarlem to be a lot more wearable, and Mechant Loup to be even more elegant and interesting.
Gourmands in general are not my thing, but one I very much enjoy (and the only one I own) is Aomassaï. Méchant Loup is another that I appreciate, but I eventually sold off my bottle, as I found it too sweet and heavy to wear more than once in a blue moon.
L'Instant de Guerlain Pour Homme Extreme
Pure Malt
Tea for Two
Ambre Narguile
Tobacco Vanille
Spiriteuse Double Vanille

and I intend on buying Dior Homme Intense. I wasn't a big fan of the original but I loved the iris/cocoa aspect and considering this one is a more gourmand take on the original, I'll probably love it. That and when I think of it I think of this really old historic town in Delaware complete with cobblestone roads. I LOVE it when great memories are tied with great fragrances

Tea for Two has come up a couple of times now. I've never really thought of it as a gourmand scent, but if you grant that it is, I'd add it to my list.

Epiphany: I think it's the smoky, phenolic aspect of Tea for Two that's kept me from perceiving it as "edible." A rather intense smokiness is something Tea for Two shares in common with Aomassaï, and I wonder if it doesn't account for their appeal to me above most other gourmand scents I've tried.
I would consider Tea for Two a gourmand type scent because although it has a slight smoky edge, it's overall really just about the sweet milk. Another scent that's similar is Eau Parfumee au The Rouge.

However, I have to say that my favorite gourmand is Un Bois Vanille. So delicious!

I wouldn't vote for Very Irresistible myself, but I see this one as sharing alot of similarities to A*Men.

The use of various notes such as chocolate, coffee, caramel rum, milky lactones etc doesn't necessarily mean the thing is a gourmand. Gourmand generally refers to fragrances that contain some of those ingredients, as well as having even stronger emphasis on heavy oriental basenotes such as vanilla, benzoin, amber.

There are a few others mentioned that aren't gourmands. Vanilia and Bois Farine for example.

But perhaps it doesn't matter.

Luckyscent descriptions aren't always accurate, to say the least.

Thanks for correcting me with a proper explanation, Pluran.
Better for me to get it absolutely right than to continue misunderstanding Gourmands.

Off-Scenter, at least now it is certain that T42 is not a gourmand.

I agree with Hermessence Ambre Narguile by Hermes and Borneo 1834 by Serge Lutens and I will add one that hasn't been mentioned: Eau Noire by Christian Dior.

Hahahaha. Same thing happens to me. It's like fragrance munchies.

I am fond of L'Instant too. Haven't tried the Extreme version yet, but I'm sure I'd like it.

I also like Dior Homme Intense, but I'm not entirely sure I'd classify it as gourmand.

Serge Lutens Fille En Aiguilles ( pine, yes - but sweet, spicy, and syrupy to the point where I feel I could eat that tree! )

Perfumes By Nature Craving ( nutty mocha delightfulness - my favorite "straight" gourmand, which is to say one that smells like nothing but food. )

Parfumerie Generale Cedre Sandaraque ( candyfloss meets cedar, which should smell terrible but is delightfully smooth. )

Ayala Moriel Immortelle L'Amour ( basically Goutal's Sables goes for dessert. )

Frederic Malle Musc Ravaguer ( cinnamon buns and rubber, but exceedingly pleasing. )

Not including ambers and tobaccos, which often smell very "foody" to me.

I've yet to smell a designer gourmand I like. I find Thierry's collection horrific, really, despite its many fans.
Well, gourmand in the loosest sense . . . it's not a genre I really pursue.

Arabie, 1969 and Lyric Woman all have a semi-moist sweetness of dried fruits in varying degrees to me that I like.

The HdP 1740 also has a quality of boozy prune juice (in a good way) to me over and above the immortelle and/or leather (?) descriptions some people use for this one - I think of it as foody scent.

Vetiver Tonka. It's not a gourmand but there is something there that almost tips it into smooth coffeeish comfort scent territory - if there were an edible vetiver this would be it, I guess.
We've got Amen series, Bmen, T42, Montale scents... Where is my favourite Costume National 21? 21 has vanille, tonka bean, patchouli, labdanum...and milk. Doesn't it sound delicious?
From the box-top of Tea for Two: "Vapeur d'un thé fumé, gourmand, épicé. A déguster seul ou Ã* deux." Marketing, I guess.

However, the box-top of Dzing! reads: "Un parfum d'une féroce douceur... Très animale, très gourmand."

I tend to think of Tea for Two more as smoky than gourmand myself, though I listed it here above. Dzing!... not gourmand, to me at least. Aside from the cotton candy notes.

Yes, I read perfume packaging while eating my Wheaties every morning.

L'Instant de Guerlain

I like the smell of a lot of gourmands, but I had a hard time finding one I could wear. I find most of them to be brash and overpowering, and I was hoping I'd find a smooth, sophisticated gourmand that I could wear with confidence. L'Instant is that frag. Beautiful.
