Do You Ever Re-Blend or Tamper With Fragrances?

Have you ever had the experience where you like a fragrance but it niggles the back of your mind that you'd like some note or other to be a bit more prominent?

If like me you have a selection of perfume oils sometimes you might decide to tweak a fragrance to what you would like it to be.

Here's an example.

I love TOBS Sandalwood Cologne, but I've often wanted to smell just a leeeetttlle bit more rose in the dry down.

So with a decanted 20ml atomiser bottle, I decided to add five or six drops of Rose Petals perfume oil.

I left it for a couple of weeks to blend and settle and the result?

Is stunning actually. The sandalwood is still there but the rose underpinned by that is fantastic.

Ever tried something like that yourself?

I have actually
I usually stick to designers, as I do not want to mess with large amounts of my Niche
I always try Quorum + ------ mixes, they usually come pretty well, but also a few stinkers
Le Labo Rose 31 + Encre Noire is a great mix as well

Recently dumped 10ml of L'Aromarine Mousse de Chene into a large splash bottle of Eau Sauvage. Jury still out.

Never.

I have diluted One Man Show (with vodka) to make it wearable. I also diluted Kouros but still couldn't stand it.

Never.

But one time I sprayed Dzing! on my left arm and Encre Noire on right, I put my arms together and it smelled like Vetiver Tonka of Hermes. hahahahaha.

I amp up Fleurs de Bulgarie with 10 % rose otto i.e. layering. ( On skin, not in the bottle ! )

Never in the bottle... there is other stuff out there to discover.
I have done the layering on skin with Fumerie Turque and Bulgarian Rose essential oil. Fumerie Turque is kind of goofed up to me - unfinished in whatever direction you want

No, just layering and it's almost always better in my imagination.

I once tried mixing Ajmal's Pure Musk Gazelle, Australian sandalwood, opoponax and my own semen.

Not quite Sécrétions Magnifiques but close enough...

And a thoroughly enjoyable combo to put together, if I say so myself.

Nope.

I love Philosykos by Diptyque. Fleur de Figuier by Molinard is a lot cheaper but lacks the green leafy woody note. By combining Fleur de Figuier by Molinard with Grey flannel by Geoffrey Beene I get a lovely green leafy fig that lasts and lasts.

I left the lid off Chanel No.5 Elixir for several days and dropped in some patchouli oil.
Meh. It should have been sandalwood and a bit of musk.

Never have, never would.

No I have not, but perhaps it is worth a try. I have layered fragrances with, I think, improvement.
