Masculine, Sexy, Rose fragrance

Thread Starter
I'm trying to find a masculine, sexy fragrance with a subtle (but present) rose note. Any suggestions? Thanks

The only (quite?) masculine rose I have encountered is Black Aoud.

But subtle? No, this stuff is not subtle.

maybe more of a skin version of Black Oud would be C&S's Black Rose. It's rose, earthy, maybe a little jammy even. C&S just doesn't last very long though.

what about Hermessence Rose Ikebana? I haven't tried it but that lineup seems to be subtle (etherial?) and classy

Personally I wear No. 5 Eau Premier, and Fresh Cannabis Rose (it's quite sweet).

Diptyque's Vetyvero is a combination of vetiver and rose. While it's only 50-ish percent rose and the vetiver is still the primary note, the rose note definitely adds a lot of smoothness while the vetiver provides the masculine aspects.

Hi Rosehavn, good luck with your search. Rose is one of my favorite notes. I suggest you try Noir Patchouli (HdP). Some of my other favorites are not especially masculine (Montale Roses Musk, By Killian Liaisons Dangereuse) or are complex blends with less focus on rose (Caron 3eme Homme).

See also these previous threads. Masculine rose scents have been discussed A LOT already:

Best rose scent for men?
which is the most masculine ROSE?

Aoud Homme - M Micallef.

Sample this rose/oud/saffron beauty and you will understand what C&S's Dark Rose was trying to achieve.

Also, since you're looking for a rose scent (here) and a peppery scent (other thread), you should definitely check out Rose Poivree (TDC).

There are great, traditional rose and citrus colognes like Aqua di Parma Colonia and Monsieur de Givenchy, and they have a kind of subtly to them. Domenico Caraceni is a very nice tobacco/rose perfume, very masculine.

I'll have to give my vote for Domenico Caraceni, a top 3 fragrance for me.

While I've never tried the mentioned ones, rose - oud - saffron - musk combination is always great and wonderful.
I own two bottles of zino davidoff.
While I like the scent a lot, rose, as a cello, only has some background pizzicato parts in the composition, and I wouldn't consider it as a "rose fragrance"

Zino, Egoiste, & Tenere are top of the heap.

Rose 31, Black Aoud, C&S Dark Rose and Domenico Carecini 1913

My search for THE rose fragrance will never be over, I think, but it has lost much of its drive since I discovered and now own Amouage Lyric Woman (there is nothing strictly feminine about it ). I also second the Black Aoud. I also recommend you to try Histoires de Parfums - Noir Patchouli - the rose-patchouli combo is fantastic and I get a lot of rose out of it on my skin.

I don't think the OP is looking for a swashbuckling rose, so stuff like Dark Rose is out of the question.

Try Acqua di Parma Colonia, Creed Windsor, or the (slightly more powdery/less masculine) Penhaligons Hammam Bouquet.

MFK Lumiere Noire Homme & Femme might both be worth a look - more in the patchouli / rose direction.

Both the Amouage Lyric scents are also well worth a look.
