Bulgari Aqua PH - sweet?! Huh?

After another horrible experience with Aqua PH when it just became very sour, overpowering seaweed that almost made me vomit and I had to wash it away I started reading some reviews here and I am very surprised that people sometime say that it is sweet.

Seriously, after maybe 100 wearings in last 18 months (i am on 2nd bottle) I NEVER EVER smelled anything sweet in it (maybe you can find something sweet in its top notes but they fade away fast). Also comparing it to Acqua Di Gio makes no sense to me because they are very different to my nose and ADG is fruity sweet floral for me while I dont smell anything floral or sweet in Aqua.

So... where does this "potential sweetness" of Aqua comes from? I dont smell anything sweet in it.. Does anyone else agree with me?

who have said you that Aqua will be sweet?
its salty, on some soury
aqua marine is much more sweet

I don't think of either of them as sweet. I simply never have. I love 'em both, Aqua PH more than AdG. Briny aquatic and fresh aquatic - that's it.

Aqua has a peppery, spicy side that's done really well. That's what raises it above the average aquatic for me. Looking for sweetness in Aqua PH is like looking for sweetness in Doritos. Next assignment, please!

Many reviewers here ( http://www.basenotes.net/ID26122792/reviews.html ) posted that its sweet for them. I just don't understand how can they smell sweetness in Aqva because there is none to my nose.

No sweetness in Bvlgari Aqua at all. Such a sharp, dare I say bitter little gem

Addressing the question seriously, it might be possible that a sweet component is being used behind everything to temper the others and prevent sour ones from expressing themselves too much. For some people, who detect those components strongly (or I dare say TOO strongly) the frag may indeed seem sweet. You're probably the opposite. You may detect that component less strongly than average, leading to the whole thing smelling sour on occasion.

Also, I might blame skin chemistry for your sour experiences. I have certain frags that behave if my skin stays dry, but which can misbehave if I break into a full sweat during strong exercise. This demonstrates to me that my own skin chemistry is not always a constant. You may simply have a dermal ecosystem (both enzymes and bacteria) which chews up the sweet stuff faster and leaves Aqua smelling sour.

I don't know how anyone can say Bulgari Aqua smells sweet after trying stuff like Rochas Man, Givenchy PI, or even Bulgari Black.

I don't detect much, if any, sweetness in Aqva either. There is something in AdG that hints at sweetness to me though, but certainly not in a sugary way. It's hard to explain.
