Very Impressed With YSL Pour Homme

Those fools at YSL are pushing the wrong products. Pour Homme smells so friggin great! It's difficult to describe because there's no contemporary to which I can compare it. Actually, ADP Colonia shares the classy vibe. This is what a refined gentleman smells like. I'd be forced by the frag to stand up when a lady leaves the dinner table. Wow, I am really digging the juice.

If I recall there's an older formulation. Is it significantly different than the newer stuff? And then the concentree. Research ahead of me...

You're right in saying it has a classy vibe. Both the EDT and the HC are great. HC has insane concentration and longevity. I don't know about an older formulation but packaging has changed over the years. In some markets the words Pour Homme are/were not used and the bottle only states Yves Saint Laurent across it and on some, just the YSL (overlapping initials) logo. Also the concentrated verion used to come in an opaque black bottle. The HC is more herbal and peppery/incensy if you will. In both, the vetiver is a bit dusty, making this a great fall scent also.
Enjoy!

One of the great citrus aromatics.
What i like the best is the rosewood, the sandalwood and the sage. What i miss the most is the plethora of soaps and toiletries they had for this one and most are gone i think.
Same thing happened with Lagerfeld and Aramis PH.

If I have and enjoy the HC, is the original worth picking up? Or are they alike enough that having both would be superfluous?

I've seen a vintage (dark box with intertwined YSL logo) on the shelf of a local discounter. On a few occasions I have been tempted to pull the trigger but somehow always stop short. Is this a good blind buy?

I wish I knew how well it kept. It's not a shouter and seems like it'll work well in warm weather. Staying power is long, although not as long as Rive Gauche. Rive Gauche also has bigger sillage. If you like a polite, classy lemon scent eventually turning into a polite, classy vetiver, Pour Homme is one to consider. It's of another time, but in this case that's good. I'll bet Carl Sagan wore it.

This is one of my fave citrus frags too, even if the somewhat too strong and brash citrus notes may have appalled so far, but I never cease to be impressed by this one, since I love its lasting power, its class and its understated, distinctive manliness

OMG!!!

Carl Sagan totally wore it!!

Here's a picture of him wearing it:

Is there anything cooler or more admirable than vintage Sagan? I think not!

This is one I can always get excited about. It's my top classic citrus for men.

There's nothing more exalted than Carl Sagan. This man was too good for humanity.

I'll try it, I've seen it all over the place so it should be easy to test.

Meanwhile, wore YSL Pour Homme all day today and loved every minute.

one of the best masculine perfume ever made ..i wear it since 1983..i used edt and Haute Concentration + all the products which disappeared year after year ..there even was a peeling in that line in 1985 and a moisturising cream in red packaging and they stopped (at least in France) till the soap and shower gel 3 years ago ...too bad

The edt is very fresh, clean . The haute Concentration is more sensual ... Both have a perfect sillage and longevity . I ALWAYS had compliments with them . My friends say when they smell "it's you" and don't like when i wear something else ( which i do more than often lol)

One of my favorites, definitely. It is my most often-worn work-day fragrance, mostly because I enjoy it so much myself, not so much for the fact that it is appropriate for work (which it is!).

One of my long-time favorites also.

lol. Kinda off topic, but I'm just laughing at the thought of standing upon a woman's exit. Yeah right! lol I mean, where did that even originate, and what is the purpose other than chivalry??? lol I'ma google it right now, for real...

is it?
I still do that.
Guess I'm very old fashioned.

@castorpollux, you're right. I also know that sometimes the gentleman stands up and waits at the table until the lady returns and then he sits down again.

@Chasing and kxe, yes; both are worth having. Truth be told, I finished my EDT and switched to HC thinking it's the better "value" but now I know that sometimes I also crave the sheer and clean feeling of the regular. Now I'm planning on getting the EDT also.

It's old skool for sure, but it's so chivalrous that a lot of girls will melt at such a noble gesture. Whether it translates into greater attraction for the guy by the girl is uncertain, but it is cool, and so different that there's no question she'll notice and share it with her friends.

Now, laying your coat down over a muddy puddle for a woman to walk over is a different story....

BTW, wore Pour Homme again this evening. Oh man, it is so enjoyable, from start to finish. So many frags don't become great until an hour or two into the application, but YSL Pour Homme comes through every step of the way.

Very true. These days, it's just as exotic as most niche products out there.

Hah! You'll get the connection. Carl Sagan wearing a turtleneck and sports coat, carrying piles of notes in a folder under his arm would even be closer.

It was so perfect in the heatwave we had here last week. A girl I was sitting next to at a local coffeehouse said it reminded her of being a kid and eating powdered sugar coated lemon drops.

It does look like YSL Pour Homme has been discontinued, at least from the US web site.

http://www.yslbeautyus.com/mens-frag...c37/index.html

The international web site still has a more complete line including YSL Pour Homme.

It is an awesome fragrance! My first, in the 8th grade.
