Good morning ladies and gents ...
What are y'alls choises for today?!

I'm in Dioressence, the darkest green in my collection.
N°19 is the most famous green, sure, but if 19 is normal
nature green, then Dioressence is down right army green.

A must try fragrance from days gone by. Viva Dior!

Good morning everyone Today I really should have gotten up earlier than I did. Have to try switch a working weekend with someone at work ,so I can attend my friend's wedding that weekend. I also should get in touch with the Mental hospital I'm working as a "trainee" this autumn. We were told to call and introduce ourselves, but have postponed it so far. Hate calling places I don't know:P Later I'm off to see a friend over some coffee but also need to study for the exam* deep sigh*. Oh,and happy birthday to Sophi's son Sotd is Madame X.

Sophi: Congratulations on your son's birthday. I have always thought that mothers should have their own celebration of their children's birth.

Hot time, summer in the city today, so I am wearing L'Infante by Divine.
Just put on some Nuits de Noho.

Have a good day everyone.
Happy birthday to your son, Sophi! Along the lines of Therese's good thought: years ago I worked for a man who, in addition to other occasions, would send flowers to his mother on his birthday. He sent them every year along with a card expressing his love and gratitude.

Sharing the house with Musse in Guerlain's beautiful Attrape Coeur.

Have a lovely day, all!
Happy Birthday, Son of Sophi!

Terracotta Voile D'Ete for me today. I've been enjoying this one so much.

Duc, you are tempting me with that pic of the Dioressence bottle. I wore that eons ago, but I need to sample today's version. I will add it to my list.

Have a good day, everyone.
well Womanity, don't actually own it but decided to use the sample again. I do like it and it is not sweet on me at all. But not full bottle worthy.
Salvatore Ferragamo for me today. Have a great one everyone!

Found out that a friend of mine passed away yesterday. He was in his mid-20s. I'm feeling out of sorts, and so wearing citrus to cheer myself up. Layered Set Sail St. Barts lotion with L'Eau de L'Artisan.

(Mountainear, I'm so sorry hear about your friend. Too young... so sad...)

I've had my nose buried in my wrist for the last hour whilst on the computer, enjoying an Amouage Ciel sample--
Now to shower and I think I'll wear the very fresh, light and bright L'Artisan Fleur d'Oranger.

(I've borrowed the photo below from www.hesmellsshesmells.com -- lots of eye candy perfume photos there! Is this blogger a basenoter?)

Diorella by Christian Dior. Lovely on this rainy, yucky morning. This was from a sample from a kind Basenoter ages ago.

So sorry to hear about your friend, mountianear. Way too young.

Everyone smelling just lovely today!

AG Heure Exquise for me. Bedtime last night: Missoni Acqua.

Looks like I'm going to SF in September with my daughter to visit a couple of days with my son, who has lived there several years now. I would love to go to the SF BN meet up, but we will only be there 2 full days, alas.
(((Mountainear))), sending you a hug. I'm so sorry for your loss. Very sad.

Kumquat, I've been meaning to tell you this for ages...your pics on the SotD thread never fail to take my breath away. They are matched only by your prose (or is it poetry?). Prosetry. Poesie. Anyway, I know I'm not the only one here who enjoys them.

Adding (I forgot why I was here, it's getting worse, too!): I started craving a peppery fragrance this afternoon. I've never liked pepper in fragrances before, and now I'm craving one. So I pulled out this sample of Ca Luna by Acqua di Biella that a Basenoter sent me ages ago. And it's quite nice, but not really peppery enough. I'm telling this because you should never say never. Never say you don't like any genre of fragrance because one day you'll be like me, standing in front of the closet having forgotten what you're doing there, and then when you remember you'll figure out that you're craving something you thought for years you disliked.

Hug to mountainear for such a loss.

I'm a Guerlain lemming today - it's Mitsouko at work, and more greens/Houbigants to test tonight.

Sophi, congratulations on having raised your son for another year! It's nice to spend a little time contemplating all the sweet memories up to this point. Can you believe he was once a tiny newborn? Boggles the mind, huh.

Mountainear, my sympathies on the loss of your friend.

Everyone else, I hope you have a pleasant and fragrant day.

(And Lillybelle - I'm with you, girl. Bill Cosby once said that as we get "older", our brains go to our bottoms. It's only when you sit back down that you remember what you got up for...)

Lol! So true! And thank you for understanding, Coopmom. I've been wondering lately whether I should retire from posting on public fora. Folks at home have no choice, they're stuck with me.

Happy Birthday to your son, sophi!

Mountainear, I am so sorry to hear about your friend...

It is so hard for me to wake up in the morning and go to the office in this heat...
So today I thought it would be nice to wear something very strong and beautiful to keep my awake, despite the heat. Unfortunatelly I was afraid it would be too strong to wear in the metro and I didn't put enough...

Daphne - Comme des Garcons

Thank you everyone for the hugs and support. The autopsy was today but I haven't heard the results yet. He had a history of seizures and had a brain tumor at one point.

Mountainear, sorry to hear your bad news. Please PM me if you need to talk it over/out.

In 30R's luminous Nettie Rosenstein Odalisque. Posted a review on a dedicated thread, uncharted territory again. Feel free to chime in, please.

Hugs to everyone, I have been busily crazy or crazily busy, one or another. More to normal -- define normal? -- and hopefully will be posting more.

Well, I think you are right sweetie, the BK is definitely the winner when it comes to longevity but honestly I didn't like it as much as the Tribute. It starts out nice, but ends very...shimmery and not in a good way IMO. Oh well...one more luxury fragrance I don't have to fall in love with. Sort of happy about that, you know.
Hierbas de Ibiza-->very light, nice and crisp fragrance. Unfortunately, the staying power is not so great.
Many hugs to mountainear, the passing of your young friend is very sad.

I'm in the "dog days' doldrums" (when is the "dog days" anyway?... but whatever) and kinda quiet recently. That said my SOTD was Pavlova, followed by a respritz midafternoon of Turbulences... and the SoTE is Coriolan. *one of those mixed up days!*
post #53 of 60
mountainear, how very sad-- I'm sorry you have lost your friend. It's a jolt when someone so young dies.

I've been C Roses' twin today in L'Artisan Fleur d'Oranger.

This afternoon I took my DD to the mall to find school clothes. While she tried on clothes, I sampled the newest Pacifica at Sephora, California Star Jasmine (fruity and sweet, no jasmine that I could detect) and Coach Poppy (pleasant top notes which soon gave way to a very ordinary vanilla).

Days like this, I'm all the happier for what I have at home!
I'm wearing Angel today.

Sending my condolences to mountainear, I'm sorry for the loss of your friend.

Lilybelle, I agree with you about Kumquat's postings. The pictures are always beautiful and the descriptions are true poetry!

I am currently in the process of cleaning out my corners, meaning I'm using up all the frags that have only a corner left in the bottle. I finished my Coco Mademoiselle yesterday. Today I emptied my bottle of Kelly Caleche.
I'm mortified for you that you would receive this news mountainear. Life is too harsh sometimes. I hope you have lots of support from your friends and family but if you don't I'm sure there are many here who would offer you an ear/shoulder. Myself included.

I am wearing

It's Wednesday the 11th here but I did wear it yesterday and will probably wear it tomorrow so ...

I agree Therese. My mom gets a gift from me on my birthday. After all, she had to do all the hard work!
Happy Birthday to Sophi's son!

Mountainear, I am so sorry for your loss. It makes me incredibly sad when I hear of young people passing.

I keep coming back to this one: Chanel Eau Premiere. So easy to wear. No thinking required.
Today I wore the essence of united colors of benetton woman ,which to me smells something like dried apricots and soft woodsyness (patchouli or tarragon?)nice for at work inoffensive even to those with allergy issues.
Tonight I wanted to try something different .....................
something new to my nose (or at least the concentration was new)

so scent of the evening is........................POISON parfum
I wasn't sure I would like this . Ihadtried Poison before probably edt and it was a thrift buy before it may/probably had gone off so I released it at work.
Now trying the parfum (especially after finding room in my heart for opium, midnight fantasy, hot couture and Fracas) I (sniff) ....(sniff sniff sniffsniffsniff)think (sniffsniffsniiiiiiiff)that I like -no make that love this too.
Mimi and Ducky and Ubu you have yourselves a convert to Poison.
Y'all should be both proud and heartily ashamedof yourselves!
Proud for converting another to the Poison fold .Ashamed 'cause hunting the parfum of this is going to do HORRIBLEthings to my bank account !
