Are these truly identical?
Are there any differences at all?
Yes - virtually identical. Difference is about $80!
Yes. Galimard also emulated (polite word) PR pour homme.
If you have no shame, you'll do everything

I ask as I loved the Original Paco from the early 1980's but cannot find it anywhere. If GJ has replicated that magic - I'd gladly dish out $140.

Bloomies sells Paco at full retail. Wondering if a place like Ulta would carry it - or online sources.

You could seek out Paco Rabanne Metal Prestige Edition

I have this and the regular (new) version. I am certain that my nose is not being optimistic in thinking the Metal edition (the bottle is silvered, with the words cut out to reveal the juice inside) is richer. Reminds me so much of the original.

Is the original Paco Rabanne in a dark green bottle? If so, I think I saw it at Kohls.

The original Paco Rabanne has been many times reformulated - independent of the bottle containing it. That was what I meant when I said I could not get my hands on the original as it has been changed and I long ago used up my original bottle.

GJ will not give you PR of the early 80's. GJ is a strong and saturated image of today's PR. Think EDP.

I don't believe I've had a chance to smell the origianl Paco Rabanne. I did sample Great Jones. It
just reminded me of furniture polish. I think you might want to check out Patrick by Fragrances of Ireland, though.

Original Paco Rabanne > Great Jones > Current Paco Rabanne

Now if you could be so kind as to insert 'Paco Rabanne Metal Prestige Edition' into that equation, that would be appreciated.

HOLY SNAP! That's it... I've been trying to remember exactly what Great Jones reminded me of... and you guys solved it for me.

Thank you, thank you... thank you.

Unfortunately, I have never tried that version.

Is Paco 'soapier' than GJ?
A bit OT, but Parfumerie Generale Querelle is also a bit similar to original Paco Rabanne..

Dammit, I was gonna try Great Jones because I had high hopes for it being a classic citrus chypre.

So, it smells like Paco Rabanne?

I wore Paco in the early 80's and loved it. The reformulated version I bought last year I don't care for and don't wear. Great Jones on the other hand is great and reminds of what I loved about the original Paco Rabanne. It was my scent of the day and is a great, long-lasting fragrance 8-10+ hours. Highly recommended.

Original Paco Rabanne is much better.
