Favorite Diptyque Fragrances

Thread Starter
Not too long ago, I received a very well put together package of sample fragrances from Diptyque. I was so impressed with the effort that went into sending them out, that I'm very interested in purchasing a fragrance from them.

Which Diptyque fragrance is your favorite, and what do you think are their premier scents?

Thanks!

I haven't tried a few of them, but Philosykos is definitely my favorite and the only fig fragrance I've ever smelled that doesn't give me a throbbing headache. I would have to say my second favorite is Vetyverio because Rose and Vetiver are of my favorite notes and I think this one combines them beautifully. Don't get the hype behind Tam Dao personally, thought it was really boring and linear.

Philosykos is not only my preferred Diptyque, it is one of my all time favourite scents. A must try for anyone in my book.

Eau Lente is my favorite, by a large margin. I do like a few others, L'Eau is probably my second favorite.

I think the most important thing to take into consideration with frags from Diptyque is that a good majority of them are quite linear, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

I've sampled a good handful of them and own several bottles but the ones that I probably plan to keep on hand for years to come are:

-Eau de Lierre- An ivy scent, and quite possibly my HG of green scents. Despite complaints about longevity, I find that this one (on me) lasts for hours and hours.
-Philosykos- A soft, almost milky fig. This is one you really need to try on and wear around. Smelling it on paper will not do it justice. The downside with this one for me is that it has some longevity issues, however, if you put on some of the Philosykos lotion before spraying, you'll get a little bit more out of it.

Out of their eau de colognes, I'll go for the Neroli. It's a bit floral but still brings to mind classic EDCs. Oddly enough, the Neroli behaves almost like one of their EDTs for me -- I find hints of it almost 6 hours after application.

Coming in early September from Diptyque is Eau Duelle. http://www.luckyscent.com/shop/secti...gn=FallPreview

I have a feeling I'll be into it.

The best Diptyque by far is L'Ombre dans L'Eau.

Honorable mentions goes to Tam Dao and Essence Of John Galliano.

Im with Kevin... Eau Lente is king.

+1 Philosykos, simply amazing. Tam Dao is fantastic too. I wanna try their newest one, I believe it has a vanilla base, I found out of the 4 or so I've tried from them, they all have this similar composition, sort of natural and earthy.

All-time favorite: L'Eau Trois

Favorite among the currently available ones: Olene

Favorite among the extensive room-scents: Essence Of John Galiano

In general, I find it to be a great line.

+1 I agree with this

Tam Dao for me, with Eau Lente a close second. I will admit to not knowing a lot of this line.

I think Eau Duelle sounds very good! I will be sampling it for sure.

I love too many by the house. I start with Philosykos, Opone, L'Ombre dans l'Eau.
I definitely need to get various samples from this house. I have owned Eau Lente and worn Tam Dao and Philosykos. They were all quality fragrances. So far, Philosykos is my favorite, but there's many more I haven't gotten around to yet.

Tam Dao
Oyedo
Philosykos (The only fig fragrance I will ever bother to smell, ah-may-zing)

Another vote for L'Ombre dans L'Eau. A hauntingly beautiful almost wistful scent...

Mine are Eau Lente and L'Ombre dans L'Eau.

L'Ombre dans L'Eau and Opôné

L'Eau, which I prefer to Poivre by Caron. I love many scents by Diptyque also like Tam Dao, L'Ombre dans L'Eau, Jardin Clos...

I'm still in mourning for the loss of L'Eau Trois, a beautiful, dry, resinous, desertous frag that is perhaps the real Lonestar Memories.
I have never visited their boutique or tried any of their fragrances. In general, how are the sillage and longevity for these?

Everything from mild and ephemeral in fragrances like Eau de Lierre to powerhouses like Olene. It varies with the individual fragrance.

I do, however, find a tendency towards transparency through the line.

+1 on L'Ombre dans L'Eau, for the same reason it does not wear at all on me, but i love to smell it!
