Wearing Tuberose Gardenia by Estee Lauder !
I had hoped to get some sleep after our NYC trip, but my daughter ate something that didn't agree with her and was up for hours contemplating the toilet.

Of course I had to stay up with her, and this gave me the time to write a blog post about our day, which included visits to Aedes, Bigelow and Enfleurage:
http://www.basenotes.net/entries/129...and-Enfleurage

Now that she is finally in bed, I'm going to get some shut eye as well!

Aw, I hope she feels better soon 30 Roses!

Petr - you've made me really curious about Heeley Menthe Fraiche (mostly because of that gorgeous photo, haha!).

After sending off the Guerlains in our around the world samples parcel I'm experiencing Guerlain withdrawal. So today's SotD is Mitsouko.

Busy day today; work this morning, get home and get ready for a family wedding this afternoon. Going to wear MDCI Promesse de l'Abue. Wonder what the bride's frag will be ?

Mimi G - mucho empathy for your insomnia!

Kumquat - to quote Shadesofbleu, Etro Ambra "whispers" amber.

Great weekend to ya'll!

You all smell so good, and what great pics!

I've been house cleaning and getting ready for guests' (in-laws) arrival this evening. It's tiring, but I want everything done so I can enjoy them once they get here. Estee Lauder Pleasures Delight is keeping my spirits up for now.

Have a good weekend!

Another Caron for me today, the exquisite Farnesiana extrait.

Enjoy the day, all!

Inspired by VM I hate civet's perfumista profile (on the gorilla site) I am wearing Dark Amber and Ginger Lily by Jo Malone. Mmmm. I haven't worn it in quite a while. A treasure.
House twins with Vandair in Bel Respiro.

Inspired vaguely by the Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky film I went to see last night.

30 Roses- get well wishes for your daughter !

I'm up and continuing with my all time fave Tuberose Gardenia by Estee Lauder. Have a great weekend everyone. I'm off to Vegas with the family tomorrow so I have some extra stuff to do today . Love you all !

Doing the Bandit thing today, as I need more OOMPH! (and it's working.) Garden has gotten full of johnson grass (which is annoying as it sounds)... I need to rethink for next year! (smaller, wider garden, different number of plants...etc.)... but now off to clean my house!

Good Evening Wearing Nahema by Guerlain
petruccijc, what a stunning photo find. Love the exquisite detail and textures, and it's spot-on appropriate for your scent choice.

Mimi, I DID smell fab last night in vintage Mitsy. At one point, in the middle of the night, I rolled over and made a conscious decision to smell the inside of my elbow, I was surprised that I caught an incense quality I'd never detected before.

Oh, poor 30R offspring, "contemplating the toilet." I've got a window open to the blog report. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. That'll be fun to read.

Keeping cool in the inimitable i Coloniali Yuzu body water. Grrrrreat stuff. Thank you, VM I hate civet.

Nostalgie and soirdelune, you posted two of my fave scents back-to-back.

Be well, dear peeps.
My daughter is feeling back to normal and was delighted at the well-wishes sent her way.

I am going with my new Demeter Dandelion today. A highly wearable green scent and surprisingly long-lasting.

Quarry, I just reread my blog post and realize it comes off a bit negative-- all the scents that didn't work out for me! In fact I had a lot of fun trying them all. Sometimes it is very satisfying to just finally find out what a perfume smells like-- like scratching an itch! And chatting about Basentoes to the SAs at Bigelow and L'Occitane was fun also. I keep hoping one of these folks I tell about BN will show up here.

I also brought home a sample of La Rose de Rosine and will try that soon.

Will you have time to visit the Guerlain Boutique???

Everyone seems energetic today, and what beautiful photos and ads.
I'm sampling a recent purchase of Yves Rocher Comme une Evidence...we'll see.
Hello all. Serge Lutens Bas de Soie for me.
I love the beautiful, sophisticated Nahema ad, especially because of the kitty on her lap.

30Roses, I'm glad your daughter is feeling better.

Mims, I second the motion that you stop by the Guerlain boutique (and report back, of course).

My chores are all done at last and I'm free to plop down and read or do what I like. SotA/SotE is L'Eau Kasaneka (from a Basenoter giftie sample). It's lovely. Warm, spicy, musky woods...but soft and soothing, no sharp angles or harshness whatsoever.
30R. -- read and enjoyed your blog entry, say Hi to mama and M. -- glad she is doing better. In general, I am suffering from the same syndrome too -- do not like most of what I am sniffing -- just to let you know you are not alone. La Rose de Rosine is very worth exploring, IMNSHO, their best to date.

Hebe, nice to see you back, how is the little one doing? Why 21 by 21, if I may?

Almost went in EL Knowing, but did not. Put on Gucci L'Arte instead. Hot'n'humid, send all your rain and cold our way, please? And again, the locust began singing -- in this part of the world they say it is 6 weeks until the first frost. I hope they are correct, they were last year.

Lilybelle, I read that and thought "KITTY? How did I miss the KITTY?" and had to re-look. I guess I was too busy staring at the gaw-jus necklace
post #39 of 51
It was a late night last night, so I am relaxing inside today (even though it is gorgeously sunny outside) to do laundry, read, fold clothes and play online.

Trying out a sample (I have had lying around for ages and have not tried) of:

Rock Crystal by Olivier Durbano

Wow this is good. You know, I have smelled tons of incense scents and yet, this one smells innovative, interesting and very full bottle worthy. The dry spiciness (cardamom?) is what is drawing me in. Wonderful. Thanks sloan_8013 (wherever you are) for the sample!
I'm giving a test-wear to Nuit de Tubéreuse today, thanks to C Rose! hmmm the jury is still out, but this could be next to join my lust list!

Mike, I have a decant of Rock Crystal I need to dig out and wear again!

30Roses, I enjoyed your blog too. I only hope to be able to visit Aedes someday. I'm glad your daughter is feeling better today.
Needing even MORE OOMPH, I'm now in Habanita. (I'm drying chiles in the oven so my SOTA had to be strong enough to compete, and it does, quite well.) ...

30 Roses loved reading your blog, it's always nice to get a different 'take' on scents, even when they don't necessarily resonate with you.

Twolf: I hope you're right about the frost! I bet it's eight weeks til frost here though, and the cicadas have been singing for the past two weeks. (It has been just TOO TOO hot and dry here, but still not dry as in arid enough to dry chiles outdoors) We haven't had rain for about five weeks now and both me and my garden could use a good downpour. (I've been known to go out in the rain and just enjoy it after a long dry spell, good for the soul!)

Good day all. Today I am wearing Mitsouko during the day and Coromandel this evening.

Hi Twolf! I hope you are well. My daughter is now 2 and a half, and a handful in the most gorgeous ways imaginable, thank you for asking. She adores my perfume drawer and often helps herself to Eau Premiere or Maitresse.

I'm a member of a website called 43things.com where you can set and share personal goals. Someone had set a goal to try 21 different teas in 21 days and it just resonated with me. I guess 21 because 3 weeks is long enough to stick with something new and short enough to finish quickly if one doesn't enjoy the experience.

Today I am wearing the rest of my little sampler from Guerlain's, Aqua Allegoria's : Flora Nymphea It is absolutely breathtaking - A nice soft floral/fruit that is so fresh (as is new). It's wondrous It is composed of three main ingredients – syringa flower, orange blossom and beneficial honey.

Lovely pics, everyone...

I'm trying Jo Malone Orange Blossom on one wrist, and SL Fleurs de Citronnier on the other, because they've felt similar to me. While the JM smells much juicier at first, they smell almost identical on my wrists at dry down (at least to my untrained nose) but the SL has better longevity for me. I like them both very much, though.
Such lovely pics, and everyone smells so good today! I'm staying inside on this very hot day (heat index 111!) until time for the evening walk-a-dog... and the cicadas are making a heck of a racket here, too, actiluna!
My scent of the early day was TDC Bois d'Iris, which was quietly disappearing just in time for the mail to arrive with a sample of Kors by Michael Kors, a nice red wine-rose. I'm enjoying it, but not sure it's distinctive enough to intrigue... As long as I'm in MK, tonight think I'll wear my long-neglected Michael Kors by Michael Kors. I used to adore it, haven't worn it for ages, so will be interesting to see if I still care for it. Turin hates it, I recall... (Let's see, MK's fragrances are named: Kors, Michael, Michael Kors -- so boring and somewhat confusing!)
I can't believe this, I don't remember what my SOTD was, it may have been Notorious, but I am not sure...Let me explain: This afternoon I went to the mall and tried Bleu, two Lolita Lempicka's, Bulgari Man Soir (?), Miss Pucci, Rochas Man, and who know what else, so whatever I wore today was totally obliterated by my visit at the mall.
