For day 4 of my 21 samples in 21 days project ( http://www.basenotes.net/entries/129...-my-sample-box )I'm wearing Bond No 9 New Haarlem, which keeps reminding me of Un Bois Vanille in its woody vanilla-ness. I do like the coffee note very much.

Guerlain's Chant d'Arômes Parfum. Despite the hushed character of Chant d'Arômes, its (now rather rare) Parfum version has a good deal of chypre potency: Lots of oakmoss and vetiver down below, a severe white-flower heart, and compact mandarin up top that lasts and lasts.

Hello everyone!

I can't seem to get enough roses these days, either - I'm continuing to indulge my passion for them in the rich and velvety but clear and bright red roses of Lorenzo Villoresi's Donna.





I always loved this time of year as a kid, 30 Roses - I can imagine her excitement, and I can almost smell the new school supplies!

I almost always wear this one on weekends, at night - but today I decided to wear it to the office. It feels altogether weird - like I'm wearing sunglasses inside. But with the heat and the sunshine it's bringing out a different facet to the scent. I love that about fragrances.

Hello everyone! Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I meant to post yesterday, even started writing one congratulating Inees on her exam, but got pulled away by the little one... I even managed a shower yesterday afternoon and was going to apply a SotD, but my little Sapling was getting fussy the moment I turned the water off. DH is watching him now, so I have the opportunity to post my first SotD since Sapling's arrival four weeks ago today-- Estee Lauder Jasmine White Moss. I hope he recognizes me when DH gives him back (avoid perfume at first-- smell/bonding, or so I've read). Heck, once I stick a boobie in his mouth I'm sure things will click.

Well, DH has a meeting he must get ready for. Perhaps I'll be back later... or next week!

Thanks it's the thought that counts.Must be very busy now with the little one!I'm really relieved to have the exam over with so I can now focus on the "Apprentice" / practical part of the education, starting monday on a psychiatric hospital with people in immediate need of help.Very nervous,but also excited!Ironically it's where the ex works...

My scent of the day and evening has been

COROMANDEL by Chanel

Notes include frankincense, benzoin, amber and “woods.

The drydown is gorgeous, the heartnotes were fine, but I had to suffer the topnotes after spraying a bit too close to my nose. I found the first hour or two rather unpleasant and thought I wouldn't revisit this one too soon, but after wearing it all day and evening I am keen to repeat these gourmand basenotes again tomorrow.

Today's BUSY DAY Scent was the Bulgari Black/Bandit combo I love so much. It worked, and I worked!

Tomorrow I "get" to have a root canal a week early (which under the circumstances is a good thing) ...

And I'm contemplating Aromi Erotici's question if he happens by here...

And OH, SOPHI, that photo is BEAUTIFUL!

I received a wonderful package of Gorilla perfume samples today from Pia, and have been trying some of them and jotting notes on my impressions as they develop.

So far I really like two:

Ladyboy -- what a bright, fresh and interesting rendition of violets-- I get a celery seed note with that violet. The initial banana note faded fast, fortunately, and I am not sure I get the seaweed.

The Smell of Weather Turning is just a delight, though it tones down a lot during the first hour. My husband and daughter liked this too. Must test it more.

Here's a surprise: my daughter loves Lust. None of us gets an animalic note here, or anything sexy; I smell a plasticy banana note (the ylang I suppose) followed by a developing musty mothballish scent that evokes nothing so much as a visit to the attic to delve in an trunk of old clothing. I'll have to try this again and see if I get anything else. My husband was unimpressed.

When I get through all of them I'll post on my blog.

I'm doing Givenchy all week so SOTD for me was Fleur de'Interdit for me all day .FdI was a quiet soft floral on me .Silliage wasn't and longevity -applied at 1:30 -ten & half hours later a tiny bit -maybe -if-I snuffle around on my arm for it.
I think I will save this one for at home where I can appreciate it and not ignore it all day.
