Vintage Tabarome will be seen again.

Perhaps this is news, perhaps it was already known, not sure. I have been working with a Creed Rep. from the Boston Neiman Marcus and she confirmed from Creed that Tabarome Private Collection will be released as an exclusive every ten years or so.

So now we wait. ;')

Actually last fall was the first exclusive. It will only be available in the States at the Creed Boutique in NYC. I just hope that they release it in 50 ml atomizers as 8.4 oz. is simply too much. This has never been an everyday kind of scent, it's so formal. 8.4 oz. would last me a lifetime. In seven years I have gone through perhaps 1/2 of one flacon!

I actually talked to a Creed representative about a month ago who said he believed it would be released again in limited amounts this winter. He said that they have a large stock of it that was set aside for Creed employees to give as gifts to family members, but now they are debating just selling it, sucks for the employees if they do decide to do this, but good for us :-D Also I heard this whole "Ten year release" thing will apply to some other of the discontinued private collection, and possibly even Windsor.

^ Well, if they do release some this winter, I hope that we have some splits here for the folks, because we have quite a bit of demand - and I agree - it's not the kind of scent that's easy to use up a flacon's worth!!!

I owned 75ml of Vintage Tabarome. I have decanted a bit as gifts, worn it about 2 dozen times the past few years and still have about 30 ml left..enough for the rest of my life should it not turn.

I would actually happily buy a flacon of it were I to find one at a decent price, I'd probably never use it all but it would just be nice knowing I had enough to last me a lifetime without having to pay an amount that breaks the bank more than anything.

Creed would be remiss if they didn't release some well-liked Private Collection scents on a revolving cycle every 5-10 years. Although I think they should be offered in atomizers & a few flacons...

....Vervaine Narcisse and Bayrhum Vetyver seem as good as canbdidates as any for limited runs over the next few years...
...And perhaps Private Tabarome the winter after next.

It's shame. I was hoping my almost-full flacon would sell for something like $25,000, and then I could go around with major bragging rights for the rest of my life.

Good news for sure but wasn't the last batch of vintage tabarome that Creed made reformulated? Which wasn't as good and led to it being retired. I remember reading that somewhere.

...and while we're on the subject, does anyone know the release prior to the March 2010-leather-atomizer-only release? When it was only available in the green 8.4 oz flacon? My guess is 2007?

I'm not sure MikeNy. I've always had a theory about VT that it was last produced in quantity a few years back and that the flacons that were out there in stores and sold out last year had been been sitting there a long time. I think with VT, it was produced much like wine and that in truth it sold so slowly that the last time they made it may have been the early 2000s or so.

I can only filter it through my own experience which is of course quite limited. But from the time i tried VT in the late 90s, my local Nieman only had it in flacons- never saw it in bottles. The SAs never gave me any impression that it was selling at any sort of clip worth noting. Same with Cuir de Russie. Frankly they made you work to sample those two.

This is guesswork on my part. It is certainly possible they continued producing it every year and distributed to places where it sold better than here. But I still maintain that beloved though it is by many of us, the usual Creed consumer wanted little to do with this juice.

I do think that many of the modern Creeds make use of more synthetics than they let on- out of necessity. I'd bet that VT was made from most or all natural ingredients that current regulations may make difficult to produce now.

I'd welcome other thoughts on this. Just a theory based on what I've observed and learned in the last year or so. Do any Basenoters have a recollection of ever seeing VT sold in a bottle as opposed to a flacon?

if VT were just widely released, say in 2010 (or even 2009 for that matter) it would have been put into the clear glass flacons, no? the only jugs I'd ever seen of it were in the green glass.

and also, from what I remember back when I paid more attention to these kinds of things, VT was part of an exclusive collection of Creeds that were only in flacons, never in sprayers. every now and again you could find testers of them. Angelique Encens, Cypres-Musc, a few others.

^^^ Good point about the green flacons. Hadn't thought about that. But, the partial flacon I bought last year was in a clear glass flacon (generically labeled by the way as simply "Private Collection.")

Flacon I bought a couple of years ago is clear glass. The juice is mighty fine stuff. Can't imagine that there's some magically better version of it out there. It's perfect the way it is.

I have been on the hunt for an elusive flacon of VT for a few months. VT is one of the most rich, distinctive, complex and manly fragrances I've smelled to date. In about a week, I'll post about the serendipity of my search (it's been a wonderful fragrance adventure). At least 3 Creed specialists that I've talked with recently said that VT is the most requested discontinued Creed fragrance and they all hoped Olivier and Erwin would make another last gasp batch--even though it might be a lot of work for them to source the ingredients. I'm also waiting for a response from Olivier. I wrote him in French/ English asking for help with locating a flacon for personal use. I'll gladly share what I learn when/if I receive a response from Olivier or Creed Boutique Paris. BTW, I am rather doubtful now that there are any hidden flacons within the USA authorized distribution network (I've dilgently searched), except with, perhaps, the proprietors of Creed USA. I'll have more to say in about a week or so.

BTW, it is reported in the USA Creed blog that VT has been retired for good because of the difficulty involved of sourcing the appropriate ingredients.

VT was only produced in Flacons. The atomizer bottles were testers. The green flacon was before the so called reformulation. I have both green and clear flacons and the green flacon juice is, for lack of better description, 'heavier' and 'richer' - not sure why.
