Anyone knows what Chanel No. 22 smells like?

I bought a vintage bottle containing about 4.5ml but there wasn't much competition for it (went under the hammer for $11.50) so I wonder if I made a mistake.

To my nose, it smells like aldehydes, white flowers and incense.

Another incensy fragrance? Ooo...how groovy.

I'm not too fond of No.5, appreciate Coco for it's reminiscing power and am head-over- heels in love with No.19, but am not sure where No. 22 will fit in.

Chanel #22 is very nice. I personally like it better than #5.

It's very powdery as a result of the heavy dose of aldehydes it contains. It's also on the sweet side. I absolutely love smelling it on a test strip.

N°22 is my favourite Les Exclusifs, hell, it's my fave Chanel period!
It's an aldehyde nuclear bomb with a sweet floral drydown, very
delish!
I seriously doubt you'll like it, since you dislike N°5, but who knows?
Maybe you'll love it, too.

Haha...I may not be too fond of No.5, because its 'sparkle' at the beginning is a bit artificial to me.

However, that's far from disliking it

The colour of the juice has turned a little reddish due to age, so the aldehydic note may have burned off somewhat(hopefully!)

The seller, who is obviously an expert in fragrances, guarantees 100% that the scent hasn't turned despite its age, so let's see.

That 'sparkle' you mention, I'd reckon are the aldehydes,
as they are indeed artificial ... litterally!

N°22 have a similar opening, just times 10!
I look forward to hearing your thoughts..!

I own the pre exclusifs No22 in edt and parfum. Now I hate and cannot wear No5 in any form. No22 is a different animal altogether. Massive blast of aldehyde well it is Chanel, then white flowers and a little incense. Do not expect it to be an incense but rather incense blended with loads of white flowers and aldehydic.

I'm not a No 5 wearer, either and I own and adore No 22 in both extrait and pre-exclusifs edt. To me it's sweet, ladylike (iris), luminous and joyful. A very lovely fragrance.

Oh? It has iris? Like No.19?

I found No. 22 very familiar...I think one of my aunts wore it when I was staying with her for 2 months about a decade ago.

The aldehyde kick is as potent as advertised!

Then I watched a youtube perfume collection video where the owner(who has been wearing this scent for ages) said it smells like 'baby powder scent with a bit of a kick', and I thought : "That's it!"

Maybe Chanel should compete with J & J?

Anyway, the funny thing is: The seller is known among some circles to be a serial counterfeiter of vintage scents, so my purchase in 99% likelihood a cheap No.22 EDT with dye added to make it seem vintage.

So I brought this up to him, mentioning a reddish staining of the label on the bottle.

Within 5 hours, I got a refund of the price & shipping!

My first free perfume...dye or not, it's great...

would you mind sharing the seller's name, so i can be sure not to purchase from him?
