Being idle for many hours today, I decided to have some fun with alcohol and flowers.
Today I put about 15 medium-fragrant flowers(mostly orchids) into a big glass bowl and poured about 70 ml of pure alcohol into the bowl & swirled the mixture around periodically before letting it settle under wraps in the refrigerator.
After about 15 minutes, the alcohol solution had already turned to a slightly yellow tinge.
After about 12 hours, the solution turned a golden yellow, but still smells primarily of alcohol and dries down instantly to a weak scent reminiscent of orchids.
Unfortunately I can only start in this way because most of the oils described in the primer are unavailable where I live.
I'm thinking of adding some kitchen ingredients to beef it up a little eg vanilla essence or mint.
The next stage will be to located oils mentioned in the primer thread to experiment further.Or maybe to heat the aforementioned mixture in a water bath over a gentle heat.
