Bowling Green

Wow! This is some great stuff. I found this in a 100ml gift set today for $18 and picked it up. I am so impressed by Bowling Green; are there any other BG fans out there? Also this reminds me a lot of (i think) Gucci Nobile. Has anyone compared the two?

Bowling Green is one of my all-time favorites. Truly excellent.

Bowling Green is one of those very few fragrances that I hope I am never without. I think that it's absolutely beautiful. I have gotten more compliments from female co-workers while wearing Bowling Green than any other fragrance I own (second place on compliments goes to Oscar de la Renta pour Lui). Bowling Green is simply fantastic!

I love Bowling Green opening. But after one hour all I get is tumeric & cardamoms. I haven't worn this in over a year but thanks to this thread, I think it's time to revisit this cheapie goldie.

Once upon a time there was a category called 'Aromatics'--And BG was the king of the hill.
It got little love and little press around here until it was discontinued, then everyone went into raptures.

I suspect, though I can't prove it, that it had been reformulated towards the end of its life, as the_good _life pointed out in his review.

Still that did not account for all the yawns it got.
Want to hear my theory of why this happened?
No?

To hell with it, here goes anyway:

1. It was cheap
2. It was readily available
3. It was easy to pronounce

Pity, huh?

In short, the yawns it got epitomized just about everything that is wrong with the Male Fragrance Forum in BaseNotes.

Don't get me wrong. BaseNotes is the best No doubt in my mind.

But perhaps we could take a step back from our casual snobbery and see what the unwashed masses (as opposed to the niche police) think of a certain scent. e.g; http://www.perfumeemporium.com/mens-...reen.html#back
We don't have to agree, just---a reality check.

BTW, Have I ever told you how much better The Baron is compared to Gendarme?
Or Prada Amber PH?

Granted, perhaps it's just my subjective nostalgic 1960's barbershop fetish acting up. The Baron is not a masterpiece.

--But then, are Gendarme or Prada??

Cheers,

Mario

Loved from 1st pre-teen sniff.
My opinion hasn't changed.
It's the biggest bargain in fragrance imo.
