Which do you like better?

I like New Haarlem more. It seems more rich and full bodied to my nose.

New Harlem is easier on my nose.

pure coffee hands down! new harleem is waaaaaay too sweet/feminine. i sampled it on the back of my hand and immedietly go embarrased how feminine i smelled and scrubbed t off.

pure coffee has a mild sweetness too it, but has more wood and dark coffee notes, more suited for a man.

never blind buy. no two people have the same skin chemistry, nor sense of smell. Hypocritical, I know, as I just bought rochas man (and love it!) since the frags aforementioned blew my budget out of the water.

Pure Coffee!

I tested these two multiple times - couldn't decide. Eventually, I realized that I really wanted something that was more straight-up coffee. Then it was an easy choice - I went with Pure Coffee.

Pure coffee is, as it's name suggested, very one dimensional, straight up coffee in your face. New Haarlem is more pleasant though, the only bond no9 I liked.

While the two fragrances are distinct enough that you can have a place for both. It is a simple question; If you want straight up strong coffee, Pure coffee. If you want a fragrance that's pleasant all around with a decent coffee note presence, New Haarlem. Either way I personally don't like coffee, and New Haarlem despite me liking it, is too over-priced for the quality and overall fragrance.

I own and admire both. If they were the same price, I would say New Haarlem. It's opening is absolutely amazing, with its dymanimc and rich smokiness and subtle sweetness. I wish that part of the scent would last longer. Pure Coffee has an extremely pleasant drydown and if it can be offered at the regular retail price like A Men, then it may be the better value of the two.

Yes on all counts, except I wouldn't say Pure Coffee is a mild sweetness.

Pure Coffe has quite a bit of sweetness, but New Haarlem has nuclear amounts of corn syrup, and a feminine grape candy/bubblegum type note I'm surprised more don't complain about.

Pure Coffee in a landslide.

Neither of them are that great but if I had to choose id go with New Haarlem. Pure Coffee has more of a dark chocolate/burnt cup of brewed coffee smells to it while New Haarlem is a super sweet coffee+caramel type of smell. Pure Coffee is the kind of scent that would make others around you raise eyebrows because its unique. New Haarlem is pretty intense and IMO can only be worn during cold weather. Neither are work friendly scents either. Rochas Man on the other hand has a nice mix of light coffee mocha+green notes to even it out and make it smell like an actual fragrance while the other 2 just make you smell like different types of coffee which imo is not a good thing.

I prefer Pure Coffee but don't have anything against New Harlem. Is that noncommittal? I don't think it is.

What's with the H"aa"rlem? I never noticed that before. Is "Harlem" copyrighted or something?

Oh, well look at that:
"formalized in 1658 as Nieuw Haarlem (New Haarlem)"
Thanks, Wikipedia!
