Old boy needs a little guidance please

Dear Group, believe it or not my only experiance of male colognes and fragrances was when Henry Cooper exhorted me to "Splash it all over" long time ago.

Anyways, time has moved on and i fancy some nice colognes, classic fragrances you might say.
With your inestimable wisdom dear group, what small list of classic fragrances would you suggest for this old boy.

Thanks

Hey man, welcome to Basenotes. The selection is daunting and my recommendations are just the tip of the 'berg.

True "Classics"

YSL Pour Homme (lemon drop fading into an herbal bed of pleasantness)

Aqua di Parma Colonia (Italian citrus and rose)

Newer things

YSL Rive Gauche (this is an olfactory trip to a straight razor barber shop)

Le Labo Rose 31 (a dry dark rose and cedar concoction that is amazing)

Creed - Bois du Portugal (this is a newer take on the spicy colognes and aftershaves of yore)

Gendarme (ultra clean, fine soapy fragrance)
