Égoïste de Chanel

My alltime favourite male scent, I wore it almost exclusively in the late 90s.

The commercial is also amoung the most aweinspering ones ever. It features music
written by the crazy, but genius, Russian composer, Sergei Prokofiev (1891-1953).
More precisely it's called 'Dance of the Knights' and is taken from the ballet
'Romeo and Juliet'.
I absolutely love this bombastic piece of grand communistic propaganda, which
fits the fragrance perfectly ... I think so anyway!

My scent of today will be Number One from Nicolaï.

Le Grand duc, I love the Egoiste commercial.

Yay!

It has come to my attention, both in the SotD thread from the 10th of Sep. and via PMs
that my pony boy yesterday has offended quite a bit of BNers. I am sincerely sorry about
that. I've seen pictures floating around BN which I find much worse than the one I posted,
and I absolutely thought that y'all could handle it. But, some couldn't. Sorry.
I shall think twice before posting erotic pictures in the future.

Oh, and congrats to the lovely Lilybelle ...
No need to -- we will tell you how it is, without beating about the bush.

Apology accepted, BTW. And still, very nice visual and audio row for today. I bet you I'll be humming that Montagues and Capulets piece all day today.

Thank you for the Happy Birthdays. (I actually tried to hide my birthday in my settings, but it didn't accept the change apparently).

I'm wearing Lanvin Rumeur this morning, which was also my SotA yesterday. It layers well over SJP Lovely.

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.

Lilybelle, a very Happy Birthday to you! I hope you are enjoying fantastic weather as we are in CT today.

It's time to get reacquainted with my long-neglected violets. I am currently wearing a sample of Violetta di Parma. Pleasant enough but I do not foresee a bottle in my future (of this or any other violet-- I already have too many!)

Black Orchid Voile de Fleur by Tom Ford..............................day

Mitsouko by Guerlain.......................................... .................after 5.
Guerlain's Mitsouko PdT. Christ, I love this. After all these years, I still get blown away by its beauty each time I push the sprayer.

Happy birthday, Lilybelle!

Fragonard Grain de Soleil, a rich, warm oriental with a soft, muted spice and a beeswaxy/resiny note I just love.

Take care, everyone.

Here's something from my garden for you;
Happy Birthday, Lilybelle!

Happy Birthday Lilybelle!

I had nothing for the celebuscent Friday so I wore Mitsuoko.

I haven't applied any frag this morning (yeah, it is STILL morning, just had to check!) and haven't made up my mind exactly what to wear. I need to sort out my frags and get a cabinet to store 'em in, the house needs a top to bottom tidy/sort/clean, and the yard needs a workover... (this is how it goes when you're a homeowner who's too busy to do that everyday stuff due to the job and trips out of town!). Fortunately, the weather may be turning a little cooler as the heat of recent has made me suffer from a huge case of ennui, which doesn't help the productivity outside of work! (le sigh.) :-)

Happy Birthday again Lilybelle !
M. Micallef Gaiac today from a sample. A winner! Lovely, creamy almost gourmand wood. I'm enjoying this!

Happy Saturday to everyone. Y'all smell great!
Warmest birthday wishes to LILYBELLE!

My SotD is Hermes Eau Claire des Merveilles.
Finally landed on a SoTD, as my JoAnne Bassett Perfumes Le Voyage EDT arrived in the post. Ayala's review of the scent describes it to a T. I think it will do better once I wash off the yardwork though, as right now it's competing with a little sweat, cut grass and gasoline smell. (I have so little self-control when a scent arrives!) Quite a feminine scent with a nice citrus start, and natural all the way. So far, I like it very, very much and think that it may become a standard in my 'drobe (in rotation with Samsara, Mitsuoko, as my fave femmes) on days I'm feeling particularly girly or need that extra girly "kick".

I'm wearing Paco Rabanne La Nuit. Whoa! This stuff is powerful!! (and secksay!)

Sending happy birthday wishes to Lilybelle!
Thank you very much again for the birthday wishes! Basenoters are lovely people! I'm being a bit of an ingrate this afternoon. I'm feeling cranky because my husband is "forcing" me to go out to a nice restaurant tonight, and I'd rather stay home and have takeout sushi and watch a movie. Somebody shake me please. SotA/E is Prada L'Eau Ambrée.

Ahhh! I have the same tendencies — staying home, feeling forced, turning cranky. Why is this so hard for others to understand that home is the ultimate destination? I volunteer to shake DH.

Encre Noire.

Happy Birthday, Lilybelle!
Ah, Lilybelle and Quarry, I too understand. Particularly, on your birthday, it's a day to do what YOU WANT TO DO. I don't know why that's too much to ask, but I also volunteer to shake the DH. Nice intentions can be SOO annoying sometimes. (curmudgeonly me? Probably.)

Luna, that is a really cool ballet-tango interpretation.

Joining in on the LILLYBELLE birthday wishes! you'll be loved, whatever you end up doing tonight.

Say this fast 3 times: "sophi is in Salamina wearing Strip" You smell good, sista!

Well I had work field trip yesterday, which included 4 plus hours on a bus in LA traffic. I'm ready to vegetate today.
No SOTD chosen yet, so I am officially scentless- I have a lot of sampling backed up. Perhaps later

Scent of the Evening - Chanel N°19, Eau de Parfum
post #54 of 67
SOTD: FM Lys Med - a sample from dear Haunani!

The first time I tried it, it was a bit "much" for me...but I'm so glad I tried it again, because on this beautiful Saturday afternoon, it is really very lovely. Plus, it's all lilies and LOTV...and what better day to wear it?

One more happy birthday hug to Lilybelle from me!

Today is also a day to remember my dear father, who would have been 75 today.

[IMG]Been sooooooooo busy with school starting and hanging out every weekend we can at the RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL!!! It is awesome fun! Buying some really cool scents, of course! To the masquerade event today I wore Amber Scent's "Full Moon," and this evening after a sandlewood/jasmine/grapefruit/frankincense salted-bath I dabbed on Amber's "Nymph." It is other-worldly. Both are fragrance oils containing sweet oriental opium and vanilla. She has a shop on Etsy:

Anyone else have trouble getting on Basenotes? Besides hectic weekday schedule and fun-filled weekend events, I can rarely get on the server any more....

Oh, I understand very well that late summer ennui, actsiluna!! The heat finally defeats me, and I await cooler weather to get my mojo back...
Happy Birthday again, lillebelle! Hope your evening is lovely, in spite of wanting to stay in! ( I'm a homebody too...)

Today I'm wearing Mythique. I don't know if my chemistry or my nose has changed, but I'm finally loving it, though we had a rocky beginning! Sote is Sabi.

Happy Birthday Lilybelle!

(and a hug to Raindropsparkle...)

Fragrant strength and support to Petruccijc and Ubu!

I made the rounds today to warn the stores that the SF Basenotes meet-up would be plowing through on the 25th (it's not too late to join us!!!)

Along the way, I got myself sprayed with the new Clive Christian C for Men. It's quite good and I'm enjoying it. But not $385 enjoying it...

happy b-day, Lillybelle!

Today, in remembrance of the grievous assault on the city that birthed and sustains me, I wore Bond No. 9 So New York.
