Any Vet in here?

Is there any veterinary doctor in here?

I would like some advice on a critical problem that one of my beloved dogs is facing.

My labrador is over 5 years old and was diagnosed with tick fever around August 12. The vet gave him some shots for a few days and advised us to keep giving Doxycline to my dog. The fever was finally controlled in about a week's time. Around August 24, we noticed some signs of weakness in the front legs. The vet took x rays of his legs and they turned out clean. He said that perhaps he had pulled his muscle or something. However my pets situation started deteriorating & I told my folks to take the dog to another vet. The new vet said that the paralysis was the result of tick fever. He changed the drug from doxicycline to terramycin. My poor baby has lost all strength, feeling in all his 4 legs now and is just lying flat on the ground. He has to be fed there and has to be lifted by two people so he could pee & crap. He doesn't respond at all even when he is pinched on his legs. It's as if he can't feel a thing.
Now we are so confused if this paralysis is due to tick fever or due to some nerve problems.

My parents absolutely adore the dog and are so heartbroken to see him in this state. My father just told me, that he just cannot look into the dog's eyes as they are so so sad. I have not spent a lot of time with my dogs (we've got two) but I love them too and the one thing that I look forward to when I visit back home is to see my dogs jump all over me to shower their affection.

The dog is in India & sadly the level of medical attention available for animals is lacking. I was wondering if someone who's a vet here, could offer me some very valuable advice. I would be deeply indebted. Please PM me if you can offer me any help.
Thanks

No professional advice from me either, but tons of sympathy. I feel just terrible for you and your dog. I'm hoping and praying that his condition is temporary.

Thank you lilybelle, 30 Roses & shadesofbleu for your thoughts & prayers.

So far, I haven't succeeded in getting any further advice but I am still trying. I just hope god listens to all our prayers and my little baby recovers.

Gupts I am sure you have scoured the internet but here is a site with what appears to be the standard treatment protocols:

http://sites.google.com/site/blackgsd/treatment

Personally, I am a firm believer in the efficacy of Olive Leaf Oil (extract) taken internally as an adjunct antibiotic, antifungal, antiviral. For canine use however, little documentation is available.

I hope for a full and quick recovery.
