Dior Homme Intense vs Rochas Man

Hey Guys!

Need a bit of help further narrowing down that signature scent(s). I am looking for something to take the place of that Gourmand-ish scent in my wardrobe.

Dior Homme (EDT) is a pretty pleasant fragrance, but that Makeup bag/Lipstick component is a bit of a turn off for me, I hear that has been toned down a bit in the Intense version with Chocolate Mixed in there. Love the fact that the longevity is really there in the Intense Version

Rochas Man is also known as a bit of a Chocolate Factory as well, I got the opportunity to try this out and thought of it as being quite pleasant, Didn't knock me off my feet - but wonderful none the less.

For those who have tried out both, what are your comparisons on the two?

PS. I am 22 for what its worth and hope to have this in a collection of 3 with Body Kouros, and either Platinum Egoiste or Creed Aventus as the "fresher" scent.

I'd go with Dior Homme Intense, but would wear it in colder weather.
P.S. I am 23

Dior Homme Intense is more vanilla + iris + leather than chocolate. Also has better longevity but... Rochas is way more fun to me, so I'd take it over Dior Homme Intense for guy in your (also in my 28) age anytime (except of formal clothing).

I have both... I love both... Can't go wrong with either... Rochas Man for the price might be the better buy however... Plus it really is a "FUN" scent!!!!!

Thanks guys for the input, I think I may resort to buying both and seeing how they work for me. I have a feeling that Rochas Man would be more suited for my use, but Dior Homme Intense has some sort of intense appeal for me, based on others opinions, the rarity, that dark black box, the dior name, and the beautiful/elegant bottle, and who can forget that dark juice which reminds me of a magical elixir.

Anyone else with input please feel free to chime in!

I lean more toward Rochas Man for a pure gourmand.

Not sure why, but I don't quite put the Dior in the strict gourmand category. But I may be off base.

Dior Homme intense is where it's it. Rochas Man is pleasant nevertheless, can get a little boring/cloying though.

Does anybody know where I can get DHI? Most places seem to be out of it...also, is it a pretty safe blind buy?

Although I liked Rochas Man when I first tried (and bought) it, I quickly tired of it and it came off as synthetic and cheap. Dior Homme Intense packs a punch every time. The more you wear and enjoy any of the Dior Hommes the less the iris/vanilla component (which creates the "lipstick" feel that some people describe) stands out, especially with the intense.

I'd go with Dior Homme Intense.

One that I prefer to both of these is FUBU Plush for men, not long ago selling for peanuts and now impossible to find !

If you appreciate a "solid statement scent" then you have to choose DHI, otherwise too!

Hi Guys !

I have found a shop in London which has one bottle of Jaipur Homme by Boucheron left. I no this fragrance is difficult to find and I really want to try it because of all the reviews I have seen on here. The lady is charging £50.00 for the bottle with the limited edition packaging.. ya no the shiny silver one.... Is this worth it? or do you think I should just stick with Dior homme intense?

I know this question is not really related to this thread but I wasn't sure how to make my own thread and I'm sure Dior homme intense lovers will be able to advise me what to do with this. Thanks!

Haha being the OP, and posting this about a year ago, how ridiculously optimistic I was.

"Collection of 3", haha one year later, I think I am going to be looking closer to 30 before culling it down to about 10.

So did you eventually try the DHI?? If yes, was it a good buy??!

DHI is indeed a good choice, though both are outstanding gourmands

I have someone bringing it in from Europe this week, but I have a feeling it may be the reformulated version, which I am oddly optimistic about.

Wait to hear in about it during the week!

Did you ever get the DHI? What are your initial impressions?

I did, I have worn it a few days now.

It is extremely close to the original Dior Homme. I really enjoyed the old Dior Homme Intense because of its gorgeous cocoa/vanila dry down with minimal iris found in the prior - it distanced itself from the original Dior Homme. In this version, the Iris is too strong for my liking and almost cloying.

Its still a great scent, just not what I want - and I have a hard time wearing it knowing that it should be better. There are many great scents out there, there is no need to settle, so you will see my bottle on E-bay sometime I'm sure.
