i enjoy very much quorum, kouros and yatagan. would you please recommend me something else from the 'heavy macho category'?
i like azzaro too, but it is not heavy enough for me, and on me it last an hour only regardless how i spray.
(i also consider caron ph and 3rd man phantastic fragrances, but such stuff is not what i am refering to in this post)

Well, Vintage Tabarome is a real ass-kicker, but it's really expensive and hard to find.

Chanel Antaeus, Halston z-14, Korous, and Polo (green) come to mind.

Kouros
Halston Z-14

Lui by Mazzolari & Fumidus by Profumum Roma, something more affortable, Bijan for Men by Bijan.

Giorgio Beverly Hills 1984 fragrance Giorgio for men used to be the Power Tie-I-have-a-BMW-and-you-don't-and-I-can-afford-fine-restauranting-all-the-time sort of panache to it.

The new, reissue may as well be called Giorgio eau de Dilute now so write that one off if you've been thinking of it on the off chance. The original stuff was an explosion into headacheland. Enough so, that I threw my bottle out before it was 10% used. But, if you can find an original bottle of it, putting it on the list would be appropriate.

Faberge Brut

Drakkar Noir

Aramis

According to Luca Turin, in his book Perfumes the A-Z Guide, Bel Ami has been reformulated. I actually own the vintage juice:

Polo , Kouros ,Antaeus , Gucci Pour Homme are very macho . At least ,from a woman's viewpoint. These make ME weak at the knees. For some reason especially original green Polo and Gucci Pour Homme.
Don't forget:

Jacomo de Jacomo
Versace L'Homme
Van Cleef & Arpels PH
Givenchy Gentleman (vintage)
Antaeus
Paco Rabanne Pour Homme

Fendi Uomo - Italian macho patch powerhouse
Francesco Smalto Pour Homme - green leather patch powerhouse
Montana Parfum d´Homme (red box)
Azzaro PH lasts on you only an hour? :O On me that one can last whole day.

I agree with Versace L'Homme, Gucci pour homme I, Givenchy Gentleman, Kouros, Antaeus

I'll add Tzar, YSL M7, Azzaro Silver Black, Zino, Fahrenheit
post #18 of 36
Trussardi Uomo
Maxim's pour Homme
Halston I-12
Oscar de la Renta pour Lui

The reformulated Bel Ami isn't bad at all.

many good recommendations (and some bad ones too) in this thread!

it seems that the main era for this kind of fragrances is somewhere between mid-60s till late-80s. faberge actually had a cologne called 'macho' in this period. please google it, and take a look at the bottle.

fougere royale (1882) does belong in this thread as well.

First, a disclosure. I can't stand Quorum. Some fragrances are referred to as "sex in a bottle " For me, this is crotch in a bottle; furthermore I think Kourus is the kind of soap I'd be given in a Greek prison. I find Yatagan a fun sinus rocket, though.

Given that Azzaro lasts only an hour (?) Perhaps Tuscany/Etruscan is something you'd like but would only last an hour as well (?) Try Carlo Corinto. Lasts forever.

Of everything that's been mentioned the original Polo Green and Grey Flannel should do well, but above all---

(drum roll please)

Given your choices, I believe you should try out Route du Vetiver by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier. Check out the reviews.

Cheers,

Mario

Fabergé made 2 very macho scents a long time ago:

Macho by Fabergé and
Cellini

both strong fourgères for men.
Amouage Epic. Strongest stuff I ever tried!
For me the tough ones are: Salvador Dali(as mentioned)
Polo Green(ughhh)
Quorom
Bijan(thatll clear your sinuses)
Grey Flannel(I know it is a classic fragrance but Ive always disliked it)
Im still a novice but these are butch frags

Sampling the new Marc Jacobs Bang today. It's on the heavy, masculine side. Worth a try, at least.

So many great Macho frags mentioned.
Aramis typifies macho to me.
My brother used to bathe in it before going to the disco in the late 70's.
He was quite the dapper ladies man.

I think Havana holds the macho spirit for Aramis as well

Some cheapo macho:
English Leather
Chaps
Avon Wild Country
Oleg Cassini
Old Spice
British Sterling

Not as cheap:
The Baron
Paco Rabanne
Royal Copenhagen
Jacomo de Jacomo
Halston 101, 1-12, Z-14
Andron
Kanon

(a couple of 'em discontinued)
