Without a doubt Nuit de Noel in extrait.
A lot of them, mostly already mentioned, i would also add Nocturnes...hmm lemony bergamot aldehydes with lily of the valley!
I forgot to add En Avion. As Tabac Blond does not play nice with my skin I bought En Avion instead.
N'aimez Que Moi - rose, cedar, moss and goodness knows what else in a gorgeous, nostalgic, deep fragrance!
Parfum Sacre - rose, pepper, myrrh and sandalwood, subtle and long-lasting.
Rose - rose, geranium, and a touch of mint for a sparking fragrance suitable for day or night.

I couldn't live without those!
My two most favorite are Tabac Blond, so soignee, and French Can Can, riotously lovable

kxe- sigh. i wish my boyfriend posting a question like this... I have to buy my own Carons :-)

This is my favorite house, here is a sampling of what I own (full/decants):

-Pour Une Femme, extrait. Luscious, luscious, luscious. One of my top two favorite perfumes of all time.
-Another nod to Narcisse Noir, in extrait only. Current release is a bit weaker than vintage, which was oily and full.
-Alpona. a raspy, woody chypre. i can't get enough of it.
-Or et Noir, this is THE gothic rose scent, a winter time favorite of mine
-n'aimez que moi, which smells very similar to Fleurs de Rocaille Extrait, so take your pick.
-En Avion, Caron's answer to Vol de Nuit and chanel n 5, the 'air' scents of the 30s, but this one is much, much better
-Parfum Sacre (vintage). A spicy, peppery fragrance; five stars

Come back and tell us what you get. And if she doesn't like it, you can always exchange her for someone who does :-)

Tabac Blond is my hands-down favorite. It's a completely non-sweet, clove-y, leathery, tobacco-y concoction and the only fume I've come across that can be worn just as easily in summer as in winter (though it is such a deviance from the normal summer fare that I wear it most when it's hot out.)

Nuit de Noel is gorgeous. It is so representative of Christmas to me (a testimony to the brilliance of its creator) and can certainly be worn other times of the year, but I save it for December. It's a sweet, cinnamon and clove spice with a hint of orange (think pomanders and a scented candle burning in the background) with this rich, mossy thing (aka the Caron base) woven throughout.

Infini is a rich, thick, green, completely heady aldehydic floral. To me it's like a more full-bodied No. 5 (in its edp form.) It's polite and refined in the winter but a bombshell in the summer (come to think of it, lots of Carons are....)

Good luck, kxe, and definitely let us know what you picked!
what doe she like? I love so many of them...

Parfum Sacre - sensual, spicy, creamy
Aimez Moi - violet, anise,
Nuit de noel - roses, oakmoss, great for winter
Nocturnes - orange blossom, airy, aldehydes
Montaigne - Fruity, spicy, floral
Farnesiana - almondy, mimosa, oppoponax, very complex - this one always smells different on me
Pour Une Femme - spicey, rosey, oriental
Royal Bain - sparkling floral blend with a hint of powder
post #15 of 39
Tabac Blond - leather and roses
Poivre/Coup de Fouet - peppery, spicy incense
Parfum Sacre - roses, incense, luxury, elegance

If you can try Tabac Blond on your skin in extrait (and yes, I mean YOU as much as your girlfriend) you will be able to carry the smell of angels dancing the Charleston around with you all day. It is a stellar experience.

So are any of the current edt/edps worth while?

For yourself?

There are several of the scents listed earlier in the thread which come in an edt &/or edp. The one you have in your siggy is very good. My brother loves it! I also love Yatagan as an evening fragrance or in cooler temperatures.

Sorry, Are any of the current womens formulations (Edt/Edps) worth while? I am particularly interested in Nuit de Noel, Narcisse Noir, and other older frags.

I myself already own Yatagan, Le 3e Homme, and L'anarchiste. They are all exceptional.

Thank you all for the help!

I wear the current Tabac Blond edp. I love it.

I ended up finding a vintage Nuit de Noel extrait on ebay. (.25 oz) Did I make a good decision?
MMmmmm, that's a good one! Is it in a black glass bottle?

Yes you did make an excellent buy.

The black bottle is the 28mls size, never seen it in a smaller size. But clear glass bottles for the minis.
I also have a 1/2 oz. black bottle.

So well, I have sampled quite some Caron fountain extraits recently... and my winner is, hands down, Tabac Blond. En Avion I found just a bit too sweet for me (in particular on fabric) and maybe lacking some "depth" (that the vintage had?). Or et Noir I quite like... its progression from a rather straight-up quality rose oil to a darker and accentuated rose-centered fragrance is really well done. Is it special enough for me to get more? I'll have to sample again. Farnesiana does nothing special to me knowing and loving Une Fleur de Cassie. Seriously, no point in thinking any further. Funnily, its drydown reminded me of the vanilla in Pierre Guillaume's Felanilla. I don't particularly enjoy either of them. Narcisse blanc was short-lived on me and left no impression. I don't like Poivre, which I found out a while ago. N'aimez que moi I remember being rather uninteresting compared to Or et Noir, but I'll have to revisit this...
For me: Alpona (the only hesperid i can wear), Narcisse noir (preferebly vintage, the dirtiest and the most daring) and Nuit de Noel, amoung my favourites. And Pois de senteur let me a good impression too.
I have never tried Alpona... you're right I forgot about this one . I know Narcisse Noir, the current extrait, which is quite nice, but not really special. Of course, I have some vintage Nuit de Noel Extrait, which I look forward to , but the latter two are no fountain fragrances.
Your right the actual Narcisse Noir is just a "right, good" scent, nothing groundbreaking like his dirty ancestor.. I have the 2 and the natural animalic civet is substitued by some spices ... But the vintage i have smells really dangerous...
Pois de senteur appears in the fountain list on the list too.
I like Tabac blond too but i have not smelled the vintage.
I splitted the 200ml extrait glass bottles from Paris boutique, they are beautiful
post #28 of 39
I was considering a vintage Narcisse Noir recently, but decided against it (priorities)... oh well... Mon-Petit, is the "dangerous" element somehow related to the vintage Lanvins such as My Sin or Scandal?
What do you mean by splitting the 200ml extrait bottles? Is the 200ml particularly nice? Are you familiar with the bottles (dabbing)? I have a friend of mine possibly going to Paris this Friday (short-notice) and if so, I would want to get Tabac Blond... my 15 mls are practically gone.
My favorites are Poivre, Bellogdia, Parfum Sacre and Or et Noir - but it is hard to go wrong from the urns!

I'm trying to buy Tabac Blond online, but it's not easy to find places that sell it.
Lian, this place is in Oregon, USA, and I don't know if they ship overseas, but it might be worth checking out. TB isn't listed but they do have it. http://www.theperfumehouse.com/index...ufacturerID=27

For me:

Parfum Sacre
Montaigne
Aimez-Moi

Marketed to men but wearable for women:

Pour Un Homme (lavender vanilla)
Le Troisieme Homme (floral chypre)

Lian,
Call Madame Naima Al Saadi from the Montaigne Boutique in Paris (Caron)! She speaks English and is very friendly and helpful (and generous with samples ). Current prices are (Tabac Blond Extrait / Splash): 81 Euros / 7.5 ml, 111/15, 141/25, 195/50, 277.5/100.

You won't regret a Narcisse Noir vintage if you'r into dirty animalic notes. I don't know vintage Lanvins you are talking about for comparison, sorry.
The 200ml bottles are beautiful, cost around 450 euros... It's good for make a big splitting decantn the ml of perfume is cheaper (it's the same bottle you can see on the main page of their website, with the golden chain).
You should find littles formats for Tabac Blond extrait at Paris
post #35 of 39
My favorites so far are, Nuit de Noel, Tabac Blond, Farnesiana and Parfum Sacre.

Nuit de Noel by Caron
Thanks Mon-Petit
Narcisse Noir in extract is a total divine, bitch queen of a parfum. All screaming civet and orange blossom. When I wear mine I feel my back straighten and the urge to glare at passing minions. LOL

Narcisse Blanc is more metalic in feel more behaved.
Caron is my favorite of the big classic perfume houses. I particularly like Poivre, Acaciosa, Pour Un Homme, Narcisse Noir, Narcisse Blanc, Le Troisieme Homme, Montaigne, and Parfum Sacre.

I still need to try a few. So far the two that don't appeal to me are Or et Noir (too heavy) and Aimez-Moi (still need to analyze why). The jury is still out for Farnesiana and Tabac Blond I admire them both, but I'm not sure they are for me.
