How much coffee do you find in Kyoto?
None at all to be honest. It's all about the incense for me.
Plenty. Starbucks is everywhere now.

Oh, you mean the fragrance. There is that coffee note in the middle notes that adds to the sort of scratchy incense feel and sort of dirties up the fragrance.
I was just remembering when Kelly Ripa flipped out over the smell of Kyoto. I forget who was wearing it, but the dude came on to be a guest on their show and she totally swooned and made him say on the air what he was wearing. The youtube clip of that was popular here years ago...it was some latin guy...I think...

I don't get any coffee. It's just a dry cedary fragrance to me.

I like it.

I get coffee, but not in the way that it's traditionally used in fragrances. Very dry, roasted coffee beans. But, it's not an overly dominant note on my skin.

I haven't noticed any -- dry, roasted, with or without cream.
For me, it is incense and lovely dry cedar and hinoki wood. I will keep the coffee radar operating the next time I wear it.

Neal -

It's not coffee prominent like Pure Coffee, or Cafe Noir by Ava Luxe. But there is a roasted coffee note that surprisingly works well with the incense. I love it!

It was Ricky Martin, though I laughed for a minute hearing "She Bangs" in my head and thinking it was William Hung.

About the same amount as in MPG Santal Noble.

It's not 'coffee prominent' IMO. However the way the dry coffee notes weaves throughout the incense is very nice.

I think of Kyoto as primarily incense and myrrh prominent. The combination of the notes, the first time I smelled it, reminded me of soapy root beer.

i got a lot . For me in fact roasted coffee beans (beans, not the drink) and dry vetiver play the incense part, and I find this ingenious.
I've tried to find that coffee note but haven't found it yet, I guess I'll keep on trying! all i get is strong incense and vetiver!

No coffee for me.....I do love this scent.....But I smell no coffee!!!

None. Just tested it. Smells a lot like rubbing alcohol to me.

I always found that Kyoto has a strong, yet stale and muted coffee note throughout its opening and mid phases. It's actually my favorite part of the fragrance.

Nice perfume!!..

No coffee found

For those who want something similar but a lot cheaper, try Listen for Men by Herb Alpert. They are not identical; Kyoto is woodier no doubt (and a bit more "synthetic" to me, as well as less rich/full), but if you are looking for the far drydown of Kyoto you should try Listen. The first few hours, though, aren't that similar. No coffee.

It smells like Japanese Buddhist incense to me , no coffee to my nose.

Spot on!

Not really, but my skin vamps up the saffron.
I'm wearing it right now, and there is something there that I understand should be coffee, although my immediate associations go more towards chocolate or cocoa or something like that.
No coffee for me either in this one.

Not even a little bit in the fragrance. And tea is more popular on the streets of the city. I'll probably drive out there in a few weeks and check again.
