Which one do you prefer as daily fragrance?
Terre D'Hermes (Perfume).......simply stunning!......but far too stunning to wear as a 'daily' fragrance!
No one, but from this list - Terre.

Guerlain, because it was the first FB I bought when embarking on my scented journey; it's one of the all-time classics and one I keep coming back to again and again (it's my SOTD for today, as a matter of fact). I like Terre d'Hermes as well, but don't love it.

Vintage (yellow juice) Vetiver. Then Terre D´Hermes. I reaaly can´t stand new Vetiver, I think it is the Tobacco thet ruins it for me.

I'll take Terre d"Hermes!!!

TdH of these two, but there are several other vetivers I'd take over TdH, such as Grey Vetiver.

It just happens I don't like Guerlain Vetiver.

Terre d'Hermes Parfum

Daily? I can't wear the same scent for more than a week max. I wore Miel de Bois in Marrakesh for 7 consecutive days and that was the longest span I spent with one scent in my WHOLE life. If your budget is THAT tight, then go with TdH. The vetiver one is too calssic for you, I guess.

Terre D´Hermes Pure Perfume
I don't much like either but I think Guerlain Vetiver would be far easier to wear day after day, so I'll vote for it.
Gotta go with Guerlain Vetiver.
Guerlain Vetiver, of course. Terre d'Hermese is everywhere. And I can't stand it.
I think that if you wear GV a lot you'll keep discovering more layers to it. Terre is very nice, but will get a little boring after a while IMO.

Vetiver.

I prefer Guerlain Vetiver
I chose TdH since I slightly prefer it. But in reality, neither.
Guerlan's Vetiver is exquisite. One of my top 5. It's mother? Guerlain's Djedi. Sample it and I bet you'll agree.
Toss up to me. Don't smell a lot alike, but similar "personalities."

Go with your nose.
Guerlain,I simply think it is the best there is.

Guerlain Vetiver

Vetiver. Terre d'Hermès is far from bad, but I find it boring and almost annoying after 1-2 hours.
And now it's a tie.
Terre d'Hermes by far!!!
Today I test both and I don't like Guerlain Vetiver
post #25 of 67
TdH EDT, the perfume version is just too much.
Not a big fan of either.
Terre is an occasional for me on account of its mega strength
post #28 of 67
Gotta go with TdH. Both are among my faves but TdH is the more modern, fashion-forward and unique of the two. There are a ton of Vetivers out there, some that are arguably as good as or better than GV. Givenchy, Tom Ford and Frederic Malle to name a few.
Guerlain vertiver over TdH for me. I like my vertiver with some tobacco
post #30 of 67
Terre d´Hermes period
Terre d'Hermes Parfum. I find Vetiver to be wholly unwearable.
I vote Guerlain Vetiver. GV is more special and distinguished to my nose.
Daily, I don't know if I'd wear any scent daily except when I'm after finishing off a bottle on purpose.
But I can see why many people go for TdH. It's an easier (read: more mainsream) scent to wear.
Both get a 10/10 in my book. Both are strong and constantly make you aware that you decided to wear something that day.

I'd guess I'd make do with either on an everyday basis... if I had to. I really like that I don't have to.
Nice poll.

Both are versatile, well made frags, that will hopefully be around in 5 decades time.

I chose Vetiver. Love the tobacco that roughens up the vetiver mellowness. sublime opening that carries right through, while things evolve underneath.
Vetiver for me. I actually detest Terre d'Hermes after the top notes are gone.
Guerlain Vetiver, easily.
Vetiver is more serious and conservative and good enough for daily use IMO.

Terre d'Hermes is an absolutely fine fragrance, but it doesn't strike me as the kind of fragrance that would "fit" in the workplace.
CV is very harsh compared to TdH
Would love to see how TdH stacks up against Vetiver in a BN poll in 10yrs time.
TdH is very good fragrance and I liked its smokey vetiver smell but only Guerlain Vetiver keeps me interested throughout its journey on my skin.
I would say its a complete scent and everytime you wear it....you will find it more complete and satisfying.

I like Encre Noir a lot, super strong and dark vetiver smell...but I don't get any satisfaction from it.I can not repeat it.
Next day or day after, I wear Guerlain Vetiver and I can easily see why it is still there in market as a landmark.

I read someone saying its HARSH...yes the opening is harsh but thats it...then everything is very enjoyable if you keep your mind open for GV.

Agreed

How about T.Fords Grey Vetiver?
TdH EdT is also my favorite. Every second day.

Parfum Version is to much green.
Couldn't choose.
I have both.

I am astonished by the results of this poll

Believe it. Another vote for Terre d'Hermes (either in edt or pp form).

Guerlain by far!! in my top 10!!
I really like Guerlain Vetiver, but I prefer Terre d'Hermes.

T d H

I love it, and it will stand the test of time as all true classics do.
Love both, but Terre D'Hermes Parfum has the edge!
TdH.
I own and love both. However, If I'm forced to pick only one, I opte for Guerlain Vétiver. Terre d'Hermès is very nice and versatile but Guerlain Vétiver is more classic and complex in my humble opinion. Particularly, the vintage yellow juice is the best!

Both
I can see why some people would opt for tdH despite the classic status of GV.
TdH seems more modern and bright to some.

I've seem complaints about the cedar - I love the cedar. Much like my first reaction to GV, my first reaction to tdH was negative also, I turned to my fiancee and said "smells like ive brushed up against a christmas tree". Now I find that cedar smell almost addictive.

I'm comfortable enough wearing either, but my first impression of GV was one of "old man" so I can see how that would hold some people back.

Yes! You more or less sum up my own experiences with GV and TdH. In fact I really couldn't stand TdH on me every time I tested it but out of boredom and with the wish to understand where all the positive feedback comes from, I kept coming back and it actually clicked and made me do a complete 180° on it. I also had a real problem with the Vetiver-note in general for some time and GV was no exception when I first tried it. Months later I received a bunch of minis and there was one of vintage GV. When I wore that after a stressful day at work, I had an epiphany and fell in love with it. Unfortunately and despite my huge respect for it, I don't feel too comfortable actually wearing it in public. And that is why I would go with TdH, too (even more so when we're talking about current GV).

I've been wearing Guerlain Vetiver for a few years now. The other day I tried Terre De Hermes. All I got fro TDH was orange and pine needles. I sprayed a glob of juice on my skin and I could barely smell it when I walked out the store. Maybe try the parfum version if you can.

These days I go for houses that use the best quality ingredients. Guerlain is one of the best IMO. Hermes has some interesting scents but there are better houses IMO.

When you shower and you still smell some of your scent afterwards...you know you made the right choice.

Terre d'Hermes. Guerlain Vetiver smells like something the necromancer from Diablo 2 would wear.
