Belly dance perfume

Yesterday I started Belly Dance class and I am totally smitten with the music, the movement, the sound of twinkling hip scarfs...aaaaaaaah, it's just mesmerizing...Funny thing is that I suddenly have this uncontrollable urge to wear spicy orientals and eat spicy food! Is this nuts or what? Inspired and completely seduced I've decided to make some Moroccan Spiced Chicken Wings and I spray some Coco EDP which is the only oriental fragrance I own. It feels right and it's quite different what I usually wear- fruity florals.

My question is- Which perfume can you associate with belly dancing? I imagine a perfume that's lush, sensual, round and utterly feminine....

Obviously Arabie by Serge Lutens. Nothing says Exotic Arabic like Arabie. I can literally taste the Dried dates & candied apricots .

Without question: L'Artisan Al Oudh!

This works brilliantly with a bit of body heat.

Another one that would work perfectly, especially as it is a bit quieter naturally (although would project well with the heat of dancing) is MPG's Bois de Turquie.

I often wore Donna Karan Black Cashmere to belly dance class. It was fabulous. Arabie would work great too.

I would say something with oud!

My recs would be Boucheron's Trouble or Dior Poison. Something with sillage.

I would say a REAL oud, not an oud-like perfume. Real oud will waft around you like the music you dance to, and mesmerize your audience with intermittent billows of exotic scent that they will probably not be able to identify - thus enhancing the mystery and the romance!

I am learning ''tribal bellydance'' which I like even better as basic bellydance, more scope for imagination.
As perfumes are so personal I find it difficult to say what somebody should wear, I think whatever you like and which is dark, mysterious, and with mega sillage!

As an afterthought, what of Agent Provocateur Maitresse? Lush white florals and aldehydes with lots of sillage. The ylang-ylang is dreamy.

And you simply must buy the CD or download "Top 40 Ultimate Bellydance Classic Bar Grooves." Great for performing or practice, or for daydreaming of being a "belle algerienne." The Bellydance Bar Mix is out of this world.

I've been bellydancing for about a year! I rotate between Samsara parfum, Safran Troublant, and Tam Dao. I've tried ambers, but I sweat way too much and there's too much sillage! Have fun with your new class

I know I'm late replying, but belly dance and perfume are my two passions! (I dance professionally, but have only been perfume-obsessed for less than a year.)

There are some great suggestions already posted, but I'd add Parfum de Maroc by Aftelier. I didn't like it at first sniff, but once I warmed up to it, it became one of my favorites. I also like her new solid, Oud Laban, which wears very close to the skin, but definitely has the right feeling.

I wear Samsara when I perform, and only when I perform. It gets me fully into my stage persona.

One tip: check with your teacher about her perfume policy. There's been a lot of talk in the teacher's forums lately about accommodating chemical sensitivities. Apparently some studios ask you to not apply fragrances in the building or just before class and some don't allow perfumes at all! (Although I have no idea how they enforce that..)

My immediate thought was Ayala Moriel's Razala ( and it's an all natural scent too ), but I also agree with the mentioned Samsara, Opium and Arabie. I also think that SL A la nuit would be apropriate.
