What is your general/initial impression of this?

Hermaphrodite.

Unisex.

Does it really matter if it`s masculine, feminine or unissex?

Well, it`s a sweet leather, very gourmandish, and it has more of a suede vibe than leather properly.

I considere Cuir Beluga Unisex . Cuir Beluga is very Luxury Leather Gourmand Scent , 10/10
In me , The inmortelle note of Cuir Beluga works nice ...

Perhaps the Beluga part of the name is referring to beluga caviar, arguably the best kind of caviar, thus emphasizing the exclusive and expensive aspect of the scent, the Beluga of all Leathers …

Cuir beluga is a softest leather you can imagine- very subtle .

Neiman Marcus in San Francisco sells it in both the men's and women's fragrance sections. The same is true of Guerlain's Iris Ganache and Bois d'Armenie. They are considered "shared fragrances".

Personally, I don't like Cuir Beluga because it seems like just another version of vanilla on my skin.

It's ideally suited to gay whales, but you can wear it too.

I think it is genderless. I love it!!! It is so subtle and elegant, but lasts for a long time

It's good to see someone catering to this oft-ignored market!

Complete official notes from Guerlain:

•Top Note: Mandarin, Aldehydes, Everlasting Flower •Middle Note: Leather Note, Heliotrope •Base Note: Amber, Vanilla

Right, more of a suede note than leather, with amber and vanilla. I was told by an SA when it first appeared that the "Beluga" was for the beluga whale, and a reference to the ambergris note. Never mind that ambergris is a product of sperm whales.

Oh, no! Sperm whales! Will the gay associations never cease?

Sperm whales have been sadly neglected by the folks at Guerlain. On the bright side, I believe the new Clive Christian, C Men, is trying to break through to this as-of-yet untapped market.

As for Cuir Beluga, to my nose it's a mild-mannered vanilla gourmand. Don't get much leather; prefer Cuir Ottoman by miles if I want powdery leather.

It's an opulent luxe suede - probably too powdery for some.

I wish they'd toned down the immortelle - deal beaker for me.
