nsamadi, that Grouper track is gorgeous - thanks for posting it, you know I absolutely adore them.

In a similar vein, I finally got the new Seefeel EP today.

Faults by Seefeel

I have been a Seefeel devotee ever since their very 1st EP (which was electronic shoegaze with lot's of dub thrown in - and it contained Aphex Twin remixes). I am glad to hear them back in the game. These new bands like Walls and Four Tet would not be around if it weren't for artists like Seefeel.

Recently I'm tripping HARD on these four albums.

Army Of Lovers provided the soundtrack for my teen years,
but I haven't been listening to them that much in ages.
They are so delightfully camp and glamorous it hurts,
and in spite of their somewhat ridicules look (which I absolutely adore),
they have quite deep and intellectual lyrics.

European BNers must remember them, no?!

Meridene - "Something Like Blood"

An indie-rock band I stumbled across not long ago. This is their second CD, just out this past week.

Beautiful! Reminds me of all the reasons I love Balmorhea.

Army of lovers omg I remember hearing Crucified and a few others all those years ago, then when I saw the videos it was crikey, what the heck is this - Sooooooo camp but they did many catchy songs.

My Song of the day and a different take on this classic Simple Minds song

It sounds like one of the guys from Wolf Parade decides to make a New Wave band in his 90s. But, it really sort-of works.

12 nice electronic chillout tracks. Probably the only thing Microsoft got right about this game. Sample.

The music and the video make for something that feels like some collaborative college project from the '70s, but I find myself really enjoying the music if not the demonic clown school going on in front.

Oh Sugandaraja - I love Film School!

Today for me it was:

It Was A Very Good Year by Frank Sinatra from the 'September of My Years' album

I am slowly, taking my time, watching all of the episodes of the TV show 'The Sopranos'. I missed this when it came out 10 years ago, but I've always been drawn towards the writing, the characterization, the acting, the style of the show - so it's nice to be fully immersed in that world now when I can watch 10 episodes in a row.

Episode 1 of Season 2, started with a film montage of all of the Sopranos characters and in the background was playing this song. Just beautiful. I somehow had never heard this song from Sinatra - it's achingly nostalgic and just the tiniest bittersweet. I couldn't stop playing it over and over again today.

Sequoia by Will Thomas Long

One, 21 minute song, from one-half of the group Celer (who's ambient releases I love). His wife, the other member of Celer, died very suddenly, at a very young age last year. Will finally got around to recording again and this one is dark and very drone based. A very heavy ambient track.

I've become totally addicted to Women these past few days, but I'm not exactly sure why. There's something about their Beach Boys tripping and lost in a cave sound that's like taffy filled with crushed glass. It hurts, but it's somehow more-ish.
