Histoires de Parfums - Defile New York

Top notes: fresh mint, bergamot and cut grass
Middle notes: water flowers, pineapple, rhubarb, clove, cinnamon and star anise
Base notes: coffee, chocolate, licorice, vanilla, Gaïac wood, patchouli

OK, I actually bought these a few days ago, but they arrived today…

A boxed set of Cuir de Russie parfum, 3 x 7 ml. I opened one of the bottles an hour ago to dab some on, and it smells great so far. Bolder, tarrier and more leathery, but at the same time also softer and rounder.

The date codes under the bottles say 94 U… Could it be so straightforward as to actually mean 1994? I don't know, but my guess is that these are from the 80's or early 90's. I've also seen quite a few spotty labels from that era, maybe because of the adhesive they used?

I bought a nice gift set of Bvlgari Man. I got a fantastic evaluation from my Board of Directors this week and this is a reward to myself! No raise in this economy, but I am grateful to have a job!
I just placed an order for 50mls of The Dreamer.

And I bought 15ml of vintage Youth Dew, EdP, earlier today.

Oh, and I have 2x 50ml vintage L'Heure Bleue de Guerlain, EdT, comming my way
and 2x 15ml vintage Dioressence, pure parfum.

My my my my!!! That is one FANTASTIC find! Congratulations and where them in good health! BTW, how is its sillage? I'm wondering as my current parfum is pretty loud. I sure hope it's as deliciously skanky as it looks !

Thank you! It's not a sillage bomb in any way, it stays close to the skin. It feels more leathery and animalic, maybe like a furry hide, but is so smooth that it never really crosses over into "dirty".

tott - I think you need to change your BN name to Mr. Chanel.

You lucky dog.
Mr. Chanel... Hmm. I'm not sure I could forsake all others and remain faithful to just one brand.

Was waiting for the cooler weather to pick this one up: Creed Acier Aluminum. Love love love it.

I gave this another try and i really really like it. I found it for 25 bucks for a 1.7 oz so awsome! The projection and logevity isnt as bad as i thought, and regardless of those two things, the scent itself is absolutely magnificent to me. Great addition to my wardrobe which i promised myself would not be added to til the end of the year, but fuck it!

Was giving some serious consideration to Pure Malt, but I ultimately went home with this lovely little number:

I was kinda hemmin'-and-hawin' because my Neiman's only had the 125ml bottles left in stock, but the very "enthusiastic" SA told me if I bought the bottle she'd put together I nice gift bag for me.

"And what will be in said gift bag?"

"Whatever you want."

Well, I left her to her own devices while a young man rang me up. Much to my delight, I found the following in the bag alongside the Halston: 2 AdP creams; 3 AdP Colonia samples; 2 Duc De Vervins samples; 6 Tom Ford For Men samples; and 6 substantial Francis Kurkdjian Lumiere Noir samples. Paying retail never felt so good.

HELP! WHAT SHOULD I GO WITH?! Cristalle Edt or Eau Verte?!?!
Eau Verte is more wearable to a man, that's just my opinion. So, Eau verte

Aramis Havana and Aramis Devin, 100ml each. Fragrances like these restore my faith in designer.

longevity.

LOL ... or something!

You'll like, you'll see, actually the EdT have
more fans than the EdP anyway, so it's all
good!

Ambré by Baldessarini
I have a sample of Ambré for almost 2 years now, always found it nice but thought I wouldn't like to pay the full price for it. Well, today I found it for ~35$ and instantly bought it.
To be honest, I don't really know what pure amber smells so I can't tell if the name is well chosen, but I'm sure I like this fragrance a lot yet.
Boozy ? Yeah, definitely, but in such a classy way ! It is a warm and soft scent, I feel nothing sharp in this one and that's exactly what I like in a fragrance.
The only letdown is it seems to be quite weak in longevity but... I always feel that with my new fragrances, so I'll have a better opinion about that in 1 month or so.
I'm glad I found this one, some people may find it generic, but in my little knowledge of perfume, I didn't smell something like that often. Very good one to add to my collection.

I found L'Eau D'Issey Miyake Pour Homme and JPG Le Male at Target on clearance. I paid around $25 apiece for 1.36 OZ sprays of each.

CHRISTOS
CHRISTOPHER CHRONIS

I have managed to source an old favourite of mine... the wonderful men's Woody Oriental "Christos" by Greek-Australian designer Christopher Chronis. A scent that was discontinued over a decade ago, it boasts one of the more beautiful glass bottles that I have ever had the pleasure of collecting, in a deep violet hue.

And in keeping with all that is purple in hue, I also bought Guerlain Purple Fantasy.

So I finally caved in to the hype. After GIT, this has probably received the most amount of praise/hype/attention. Hell, it even has it's own section. It wasn't a 100% blind buy, it was more a calculated risk even though my lady friend only gave it a 5 on 10. My reasoning was 1. It's only £45, 2. It's called Pure Malt and I LOVE my whisky. 3. It'll be gone forever and I might as well just give it a go. I hope it lives up to everything it's said to be.
