Can't decide whether I want to sit next to Domperrier or Petrruccijc. I know, can I sit between you? You're wearing two of my Desert Island scents. Mmmmmm. And Joe, if you'll forgive me being forward, I think Black is one of the nicest things I've ever smelt on a gent. No, it's OK, I won't put my hand on your knee, you're safe. As long as I stay away from the bar.

So anyhoo... it's SnS today and it's amber so I went with Youth Dew Amber Nude. And you know, I still don't like the topnotes. Too big and rough for me this morning, I felt like I was being cudgelled. However, the heart is good and the base is stunning, so it's still a winner. However, I think it might be more of an evening 'fume than an all-dayer. Though obviously it lasts very well (it's a Youth Dew after all!)

Have a good day, all. x

Profumum Ambra Aurea -- gourmand golden amber with vanilla, refined and cozy.

Have a nice weekend.

Oops, I forgot about S'n'S ... will remember it for my SotE.

Today I'm in a toothachingly sweet concoction of
Le Mâle layered with Hypnotic Poison Eau Sensuelle.

I quite like it, but I doubt my surroundings feel the same way!

Too funny! (because it's true...) Yeah, Jicky is a strange one. Yet, there is something I love about it! Thanks for the humor

For the Amber sniff-n-speak it's Neil Morris' Burnt Amber - warm & smokey for a cold & wet day of outdoor soccer!

Joking with a straight face lol

Actually, I'm a little underwhelmed by the EDT concentration, so that Habit de Fete canister will be quite filled up for some time...

Please explain why Jicky would be one of your 2 desert island scents! I can't figure this one out, along with Shalimar.

Youth Dew on the other hand, grows on me weekly.

Good morning everyone!

D'oh, I forgot about S&S (what with being in and out of here a bit infrequently recently!), but I would have gone for Ambre Sultan if I'd been on the ball.

Instead I'm wearing my latest acquisition, Bond No9 New Haarlem. This is the first Bond I have actually bought. I received Eau de New York as a gift from a very generous colleague. I still feel like I'm being ripped off a little with the Bond prices vs. quality, but I did fall in love with this scent to a point that I couldn't resist getting a small bottle when in New York recently. Actually, it's not even 'quality' that I really mean here, it's their unashamed attempt to be 'status symbol perfumes' that bothers me. Their boutique in Manhattan was lovely, but the staff were not very good at customer service...

Anyway. New Haarlem is a foodie, extremely sweet scent that has definite amber leanings. So I'm almost participating.

If you like how it smells in Starbucks on the days they haven't let the milk go sour, if you can tolerate what feels like burnt caramel (they must have gone crazy with ethyl maltol and coumarin) and a cinnamon-hit that I swear is there even though it's not listed... this might be the frag for you!

I'll be joining the amber crew later this afternoon, because amber and tennis do not match But I put on my tshirt from last night that still smells of DK Gold amber drydown - so that is my SOTAM and my morning SnS scent.

I'm going to a wedding this evening and I will be wearing:

Shalimar Extrait by Guerlain.

I think I'm going to go with what my nose is craving today despite the fact it's probably not the first scent I'd choose for my "grassapalooza" (last chance to catch lawn clippings for my compost before the grass stops growing for the season)... E M Rajasthan from J. Peterman. It's definitely got a lot of amber (labdanum/beeswaxy) and is an interpretation of a traditional Indian perfume "for Westerners" as far as I'm concerned. So at least for the SotM I'm in Rajasthan.

Hello everyone!

I'm in my newest ambery favorite for SnS, Oro by Roberto Cavalli; a warm, radiant and very opulent ambery oriental.

Y'all have a wonderful day!

Duc, I think you smell divine- in fact I was going to wear Strip today but i think I'll join you in Anne- it's cool and foggy here today so it won't be overwhelming.
I'm wearing Calandre today. Didn't realize we were going for amber. Sorry.

Sophi, we are scent twins today! Here is my post from the Sniff 'n' Speak thread:

My SotD is Yves Rocher's Voile d'Ambre, a subtly elegant oriental blend that I think would be appropriate in any setting. This is a great spring and fall fragrance, because it's only moderately rich. The green mandarin in the opening adds a welcome freshness, and the lasting power is impressive. This fragrance is a great value, too! Smells expensive, but isn't.

Head Notes: Italian Green Mandarin, Cardamom
Heart Notes: Myrrh, Incense, Opoponax
Base Notes: Madagascar Vanilla, Australian Sandalwood, Patchouli

Highly recommended!

Shalimar. Love it & wear it in all forms...at the same time.

Huh. I guess that's why I liked Oro, Evangeline! But I have to confess I didn't remember that amber was a note in Oro -- I just know that I like it's warm, cinnamon-y sweetness. So I will either wear that or my small sample of EL Sensuous to synchronize this evening.

Today it was Hermes Kelly Caleche, from a sample. We had to go to a family funeral, and it was subdued but very long lasting and comforting on me.
Yesterday's scent was PG Ilang Ivohibe, and today's scent is Chanel's lovely 31 Rue Cambon (for the SnS). Take care, all.

I know just what you mean, and the edt is my favorite. One day I was grinding some lemons down the not-so-fresh smelling food disposal in the sink, and it reminded me of Jicky. Wonderful stuff!

Wordy, I get that too early in the morning turn-off on some fragrances, too. Some are just better after noon!

For October's Amber Sniff & Speak, I'm wearing Prada's L'Eau Ambrée. Ingredients listed on the box include: Mandarin, Cedrat, Rose de Mai, Gardenia Jasminoide, Somalian Oppoponax, Indonesian Patchouli. Hmmm...no amber listed, which is probably why I like it. Anyway, it does, somehow, evoke a sense of faint sweet briny ambergris to my nose. I often reach for this fragrance before going to church. One reason is because it is so unobjectionable, the other is because I get little whiffs of it now and then that remind me of incense. This fragrance has a purity that pleases me.

Now testing YR Vanille Noire from the mini that came with my order (bought mostly shower gels, on sale!). Nice dry (non-sweet) vanilla. I would almost say it's a "cool vanilla", if there can be such a thing. I agree that there's something about it that's similar to Hypnotic Poison (but I like the YR much better). Also something in it that reminds me of Bois Farine, but less weird...
