Search function anomaly

After we had a major upgrade a few months ago, the search function's ability to give desired results has really taken a hit.

For example, if we are looking for some information on 'Red Aoud'.

When we search for 'Red Aoud', we get results that have the word 'Red' in the title (with or without having 'Aoud' with it) & also the threads with the word 'Aoud' in the title (with or without having 'Red' with it).

It's so frustrating as there are so many threads with the word Aoud (thanks to Black Aoud) in it and trying to reach out to that particular thread with both the words 'Red Aoud' takes a lot of patience and plenty of screening.

I've lost my patience on so many occasions when I have been looking for some information on any fragrance. Don't you think the search function should support 'phrase search'? If I have typed 'Red Aoud' in the search tab, I should ONLY be shown threads that contain BOTH the words in the thread title.

Is this the forum search?

Yes it's rubbish. Thats basically why I removed the search box on the top right and replaced it with a Google Search. The software makers are apparently going to improve it.

The Google search box is better here - do a search for: "Red Aoud" threads

Grant...it's the little box on the right corner of the basenotes, green and black toolbar, just under the log out button.
I press advanced search and then put 'Red Aoud' as keywords & then select 'search titles only'.

Sorry but when you mean, google search box, what do you mean? I suppose you don't mean going to google and searching there?

i think Grant is referring to the rectangular box just above the words, "Advanced Search".

Type in "Red Aoud" threads and hit Enter and voilÃ*!
