Oud and rose

One of my bestest friends is looking for an Oud/rose perfume.
Or a Rose/oud perfume.
Any suggestions?

Aoud Rose - Martine Micallef, I am currently wearing it. Very cool and slightly medicinal rose, appropriate for daily use. Very nice rendition of rose, rather modern, IMHO.

I love roses perfumes...anything but oud!I can't stand the smell of oud in any perfume scent!I am sorry!

A couple of the best, imo:

Micallef Aoud Homme (don't be thrown off by the homme... it's definitely unisex)
C&S Dark Rose

If you want more woods and spice and less flowers, Epic Woman is worth a sniff too.

Juliette Has a Gun - Midnight Oud is good I think; the oud is fairly tame (probably synthesized?) but nice and rich.
Montale - Aoud Roses Petals is one of my favorites in the Montale line, and not as butch as others they offer.
Czech & Speake - Dark Rose
Le Labo - Rose 31 (leans masculine, but not impossibly so)

I got given a delicious sample the other day. It was an expensive arabian attar type perfume in an extremely ornate bottle called alboi (in arabic I presume...with an umlout over the a and a square o joined onto the b in front of it with a baseline).
It struck me as a sandalwoody oudy smell with rose, but very gentle and lovely.

Montale Oud Queen Roses.

go arabian
perhaps ajmal - mukhallat dahn al oudh moattaq

Montale Black Aoud is lovely. I don't wear it but I like to sniff the small sample I have. Something about its starkness...

Montale Black Aoud is the ultimate!

For oud and rose you have to come closer to the arabian type of perfumery. You can go either with different Montales( there are several ouds with roses in their line starting with Black Oud ) and you can find different combination between rose and oud letting you decide which is the best for you.
Or try Rose Oud from By Killian( almost only roses&oud), very nicely done or Epic woman from Amouage( where you can find also tea beside oud and rose).
But as a starter go with Midnight Oud from JHaG

Two rose and oud fragrances that are easy to wear:
Korres Agarwood
Juliette Has a Gun Midnight Oud

But if your friend wants a more intense oud, it`d suggest something from montale or something arabic. Rose and oud is quite a common and well done combination in arabic fragrances

After doing my own rose and oud research, I bought JHAG's Midnight Oud (to me mostly rose and oud with soft touches of saffron and geranium) but I still have Montale's Black Aoud (rose and oud with a bit of sandalwood) on my wishlist, so naturally I'd recommend both of those. Montale's Aoud Queen Roses is very nice but it's more about the roses than the oud; same with Aoud Rose Petals, plus it's just too soft. By Kilian's Rose Oud is gorgeous but lacks staying power on me, something that's not a problem with Midnight Oud or Black Aoud. I also liked Czech & Speake's Dark Rose - it's similar to Midnight Oud but it doesn't last nearly as long...of course, your mileage may vary so I'd say that they're all worth checking out.

My fave ..........By Kilian's Rose Oud is so so beautiful - swoon worthy - one of the best I have tried and I am not a fan of Oud. I actually found it long lasting on my skin and my skin eats perfume. *LOL*

I love a good combination of rose and oud, and, fortunately, there are a lot of options to choose from. Does your friend like her/his oud making a bold statement? I would consider the Montale series, then. My favorite is Montale White Oud because of the dark saffron. It is a very inky rose in there--a rose blooming in the night.

Amouage Epic Woman is worth a sniff--the oud is less "medicinal" here, but still has a good presence.

I was initially enamoured by CS Dark Rose, but it is very linear, and I became quite bored with it. It's a good scent, though, and I like the rose there.

Micallef Rose Aoud is a fruity rose-combination. It's almost yummy. I like it.

My fave so far has been By Kilian Rose Oud. It is quite sweet, so please keep this mind in case your friend doesn't like sweet scents. The rose clearly dominates the oud, and the oud is very subtle. It doesn't have powerful sillage, but it clings to my skin forever; it is more of a skin scent for me. In fact, I am trying to find someone to split a bottle of this one with me...

Waw! Thanks everybody for all the responses. I am traveling and did not have time to check my thread.
So many suggestions! I will give her the link so she can check them out for herself.

I do want to say how very nice basenoters are. Very friendly, helpful and generous!

Some good ones are...

Montale's Black Aoud - heavy rose-patchouli-oud.

Czech & Speake's Dark Rose - light spicy rose with oud.

L'Artisan Al Oudh - woody transparent rose-oud.

I'm not a fan of the Kilian Rose Oud, but if you like that, I highly, highly recommend Montale's Aoud Roses Petals, an amazingly similar fragrance at a much more affordable price.

I second this suggestion. I recently sampled Montale's Aoud Rose Petals. It is excellent - very tenacious- and it got me so many compliments I was quite surprised, since it's not my style either - but if you're into this kind of stuff, it's a perfect choice.

It's class in a bottle for sure. The beauty lies in the quality of the rose and very little oud. If someone doesn't need the Kilian 50ml bottle for $395.00 you could always split 100ml refill that goes for $350.00 making the cost of 50ml only $175.00 for a savings of $220.00.

One of my favorites in this category is Montale Aoud Damascus. It is not as interesting as Black Aoud, but more wearable for me. And just smells great.
