If I hated Fumerie Turque, will I hate Chergui?

Hey Guys:

About a year ago, I got a decant of Fumerie Turque. I can't really get past the fact that it really doesn't smell masculine enough for my needs. I was thinking about sampling Chergui in the future. However, I wonder if this will also fall short for me as well. Anybody out there think Fumerie Turque is horrible, but adores Chergui? They seem like they could be related, but I thought I would check here to see what you guys think.

they smell worlds apart...very hard to tell.

Well, I do like both but I think Chergui is at least as unisex as FT is, maybe leaning even a bit more towards the feminine side - probably not what you're looking for but the only way to be sure is to sample it, I think.

I don't know Fumerie Turque, but if your problem with it was that you don't think it smells "masculine" enough I don't think you'll like Chergui for the same reason. While it's an extraordinarily well crafted and wonderful perfume, there's a pronounced "soft and sweet" quality to it which reads as very feminine to my nose, to the point where I don't feel entirely comfortable wearing it myself - and I am generally not one for strict gender categories in fragrances. It's still definitely worth at least a sample though; you can always decide for yourself whether you want to spring for a larger decant.

For me Chergui is less masculine than Fumerie Turque. It's also a lot less distinctive and interesting.

Still... you should try it!

Well, Fumerie Turque leaves me rather cold (it is somehow unfinished to me, seriously lacking another component), but I absolutely adore Chergui. BUT I agree, if you find Fumerie Turque not masculine enough, Chergui will be tricky too. It does of course depend a lot on your skin chemistry in general, but even more with Chergui, I think.

Two of my faves from one of my favorite houses!

Unfortunately I will have to agree with the other posters. If you think FT is too feminine for you the chances are very high that you would feel the same way about Chergui.

'Hate' is probably too strong a word. Fumerie Turque is just 'meh' to me but Chergui is a 'wow'! Best to sample it for yourself imo.

Chergui is more feminine than Fumerie Turque. It is sweeter and it is lacking the large dose of smoke which makes to me FT unisex.

I don't see them as close relatives. One could like/love both/either/none.
