I was in a local store yesterday, Kuhl-Linscomb (a home furnishings and gift store which carries many niche perfume brands) and my favorite SA there told me that Frederic Malle had come to the store several weeks ago to personally check it out, to see if it measured up as a possible venue for his line. His people had requested that the visit not be publicized as a meet-and-greet the perfumer, but just be a private visit. (I was told that he was friendly, charming, low-key, non-arrogant.) Apparently his 10-year Barney's-exclusive deal (in the U.S.) is expired, and he may or may not remain exclusive with them. (There is no Barney's in Houston! -- so, the 4th largest city in the U.S. is, at this time, Malle-less...)
Oh, how I wish I had wandered into the store when he was there... !!!! (And I'm so excited to think we MIGHT soon have his products here!)
