Midnight in Paris

Hello people.
In short a new fragrance from Van Cleef and Arpels will be released : Midnight in Paris. They are very shy with their releases so this is somehow good news.

I wonder if any of you have tried it? Attachment 7650

"The idea behind the perfume was to create a luxurious leather fragrance, a sensual skin effect on which a luminous flower is said to be resting. The composition is signed by nose Domitille Bertier, with the collaboration of perfumer Olivier Polge"

You're late to the party! We've been talking about this for two months:

It's pretty good. I think most people who have tried it liked it. I liked it enough to buy a bottle of the EDP.

I`m with noggs, it`s a great fragrance. I also own the edp, if you like leathery aromas with gourmand accents and something flowery, it may be your choice between the fragrances launched this year.

It's been compared to Bvlgari Black and I can see the similarity. Different enough to justify owning both though, IMHO.

After testing it twice, I bought myself the EdP because the scent seemed to be more transparent than Scotch tape. After the initial blast, which is very nice because the lily is very apparent, it goes down to ZERO SILLAGE, or at least think it does. I think I'm anosmic to a note or two, and I think the incense note is the main culprit creating an olfactory blocker to the rest of the scent after the top notes settle. After a while the fragrance becomes just a tad more apparent, and I get a skinscent trail of tonka for 8+ hours.

Anyone with a similar experience? I won't mind dousing myself with this stuff because I don't think I've ever gone through a whole bottle of anything, but I'm afraid of smelling like a leathery tonka-bomb to others without knowing it. As a post note, I think it seems to like humidity because the scent seems to smell more apparent if I breathe on it, but not that much more apparent.

Anyone else with a dilemma on this scent?

I purchased the EDT because the Perth climate is nothing like the European one I've just moved from. I want to give the EDT a run over summer, and perhaps wear the EDP next winter, should I be inclined to buy another bottle.

Aside from the fact that the flacon itself is one of the nicest Ive purchased in a long time, the juice is very agreeable. I find it comparable to Bvlgari Black (a scent which doesnt always work on me - but here the Midnight in Paris EDT is mercifully more hushed than Black), and it also echoes some qualities in Kenzo Power - a scent that I love. The EDT lasts a whopping 8 or 9 hours on my skin, so I have no issues with persistence.

I'm very pleased with this purchase.

I think it is one of the best releases of the year.

My dilemma is I bought the edp and though it lasts a bit longer than the edt, it still stays very close to the skin. I love it but wish it would project a bit more. Actually, a lot more.

I'm with you there...tried 4 sprays to the same spot on my wrist, good the first 1/2 hour, then all quiet as a church mouse, but it's there, lasting beyond my bedtime, a quiet presence until I decide to put my nose to my wrist again. Argh!

EDP is wonderful and IMO definitely worth a splurge.

My thoughts, too. This has actually been one consideration holding me back from a purchase. Bulgari Black is powdery and subdued to me, so I'm not sure yet if I want to add another of the same... I've used half a sample of Midnight edt, which is a good sign, but still... What's the point of making such a lovely scent and then only letting it whisper?

I splurged a few days ago and wholeheartedly agree.

Now have the EDP and is my SotD. True, it stays closer to the skin but smells richer to the wearer (and others, definitely).
