RIP Dame Joan Sutherland

Australia's own Grand Opera soprano Dame Joan Sutherland passed away on Suday at her home in Switzerland. She was dubbed "The Voice of the Century" by Luciano Pavarotti.

A sad loss indeed.

I am sorry that her voice has passed on; she had truly a unique instrument. I have many of her recordings, and her performance in Norma was what got me into opera in the first place.

As for anything else, best not to speak ill of the dead.

Very sad news, she was one of the truly great singers of the last 100 years. Condolences to Richard and the family.
