Underrated frags that you wanna push.

Plug time.. I know many of us have an influence on each other here on BN. So why not use our influence in a single thread to plug a fragrance (or many) that you think is stunning, and that you would like more people to try. I used to not wanna share some of my hidden gems, but what's the point of that? These are fragrances that bring a smile to my face, and I would love to share the joy with you folks.

Antonio Banderas Seduction in Black. If you wanna start with this house, start here. The AB house supplies niche quality frags at drugstore prices, and Seduction in Black will blow your mind. If you like La Nuit L'homme or whatever it's called, I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy this.

Samba Kiss Me. Lemon meringue pie gourmand. A first that I've found. There may be similar ones but not at 10 bucks for 3.4 oz. This also smells similar to Live Jazz, but without the mint note, and amp'd up with a gourmand feel.

Raw Vanilla. This may be harder to find in the spray, it's arguably discontinued, but imo it's Coty's masterpiece. Vanilla, tonka, bamboo, and lots of green notes. The combo of vanilla and greens is excellent, light and versatile. It doesn't project too much, but that's what makes it so good, it's a lighter fragrance. I also love how the vanilla is anything but syrupy and synthetic.

Bod Man Body Heat Sexy x2. This is pretty much Rochas Man.. but better, and under 15 bucks.

This may be a little similar to the rather large thread "underrated underexposed inexpensive frags" something along those lines. But this is a push thread, pushing you guys to go out and try these recommendations. Please add your 2 cents, or comment on those recommended. Enjoy!

L'occitane's vetiver, even though it does get love on here I still feel it does not get enough, very underrated vetiver and very reasonably priced. I love it.

Vetiver extraordinare by Frederic Malle, I feel it does not get as much respect as it should because of Musc Ravageur which is another great fragrance but this one I feel should get more reconition. I do truely believe that this will go down as one of the best vetivers of all time.

Royal English Leather by Creed, ok the formula is quite simple, ok it was made a long time ago, but this is still a nice fragrance. Not the best mind you but very nice, well made clean smelling leather. Simple but effective.

Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille, I think this fragrance is just sexy as hell and should be talked about more. This and musc ravageur are the sexiest frags I have tried.

Obsession by CK, yes it is older but I love this fragrance still. To me it has this tropical gourmand type of smell, am I the only one who thinks it smells tropical?

Acier Alumium by Creed, sweet, fruity, spicy and vanilla fragrance that smells sooooo gooooood. I am surprised more people are not talking about this one.

Vetiver 1948 Creed, this was the one that started it for them in the vetiver department and the one that got me hooked on vetiver. I still think to this day this is the best one I have tried.

Another vote for Versace l'Homme
I agree with L'Occitane Vetiver, and am interested in trying Versace l'homme.

I think Lomani Ignition is a nice vanilla, which more people should try, especially since:
1) gourmands seem popular
2) it's super inexpensive
3) offers good layering posibilities, if you don't want a vanilla only

Halston 1-12. An extraordinary fragrance, it should be a classic, and you can have the 4.2 oz bottle for $9.99 at my local Marshall's.
I have stashed away 3 bottles already, so I am not afraid running out LOL

I don't believe I've ever seen this in a store. Might have to go sniffing around Marshall's tomorrow.

If your local Marshall's does not have it, you can get it from ebay for $10.68:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NIB-Halston-1-12...item53e406422e

and you still can have it for $9.99 in ebay if you are willing to buy 10:

Jacomo de Jacomo Deep Blue. Those who like Cool Water may be missing out on a great find. Lets just say this oversight may be good for the BaseNotes MFD Board, as JdJ DB would most likely start off new viral GIT-comparison threads ;o)

Estee Lauder Brasil Dream for Men

It is not tropical, acquatic, coconutty, marine, fresh, sweet or generic and does does not require a little pink umbrella - even though the point of sale ad may suggest these things.

It is a decently priced hip modern retro take on a resolutely classic masculine accord with a discernable oakmoss base - good stuff.

Guerlain Cologne du Parfumeur.

If you want a modern take on possibly the most classic genre - Eau de Cologne - then look no further. Not for little boys, but not 'old man' either - sometimes simple is good

Amouage Lyric Man. I'm not sure if it's underrated, even the meaning of the word is not clear for me, but it's a really great scent, not too often mentioned here.

Lancome Hypnose Homme - really something deep about this one
Hugo Boss Dark Blue (really not bad)
Boss in motion black - excellent!
Boss Elements Aqua - very ˝wet˝ casual fragrance
Xeryus Rouge - mentioned, but not enough
Carolina Herrera - Chic for men - really fresh, spicy, seductive too
Cerruti Pour Homme - really has a very nice vibe, classy even
Azzaro Onyx/Silver Black - masculine, fresh, tad bit smoky too, seductive
MOschino Uomo? - very nice, vibrant, classy Italian scent

I can't lay enough emphasis on how good Lancetti via Condotti pour homme is.
It's the best musky, fruity fragrance I've ever tried/owned.

Vétiver Hombre by Adolfo Dominguez. It is distinctive, masculine and classy fresh vetiver with a wonderful touch of jasmine.

I would like to plug the unpopular "Nautica Oceans" for men. It doesn't seem to impress many people here but it's one of my summer staples. I don't really find it to be the uninspired, fresh, and clean fragrance others to. I find the scent vaguely reminiscent of sun tan lotion as it has a milky undertone. There is a salty note (similar to Creed's Erolfa) that cuts through the fragrance to balance it out.

In fact, I've owned both Oceans and Erolfa and I much prefer the Nautica over the creed and find that they share a similar character. The one downfall with Oceans is the projection, which remains very close to the skin. I find this fragrance distinctive, and I could easily pick it out of a lineup of 'fresh aquatics' using only olfactory detection.

I am also pleased that the price of Oceans is quite inexpensive. We are able to purchase full gift sets here in Canada for under $30 at our local Winner's stores (I gather this is our version of your Marshall's or TJ Maxx). The body products are also sublime as the A/S balm is a tad sweeter and really does take on the summery sun tan lotion vibe.

Overall, I find this to be a fragrance that is overlooked on the boards and I am quite pleased by this as it allows the scent to fly under the radar. A wardrobe staple for now and years to come (assuming bottles don't vanish from existance).

Dolce and Gabbana The One. Somehow, i get 8 hours with great projection from this fragrance, which is pretty rare because i have a tough time with most fragrances, and ive heard this ones weak, but definetly not on my skin. Also, the smell itself is absolutely amazing. Dolce and Gabbana the one is extremely underrated. extremely versatile, amazing smell. IMO its a perfect signature scent if someone is looking for an all year sig scent

MPG Parfum d'Habit

Lolita Lempicka au Masculin (one of the only male gourmands that doesn't make me gag)

Lomani Ignition, and Jacomo Deep Blue I really wanna try, especially after reading posts here.

Also the comment on Nautica Oceans.. couldn't agree with you more, it's one of Nautica's best imho, it's a very nice tropical fragrance.

Armani Mania

I might be the only person on here to like this but it lasts forever on my skin and the cedar smells great on me. Just really classy and one of Armani'ds best besides the original to me

Regarding Nautica Oceans, I'd love to find a cheaper alternative to Erolfa, however, when I smelled Oceans, I literally smelled NOTHING, like if I put water on my skin. It was really bizarre.

Happy (Clinique) may make you feel happy and carefree, yet grounded and romantic.

Blue Jeans (Versace) may make you imagine the scent of pipe tobacco in the air on a crisp autumn day as you stroll amongst fallen leaves fallen from the pumpkin orange Maple trees of Fall along the sidewalk of the neighborhood block.

[QUOTE=Sub Zero;1963307]Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Malt

LOL! Poor Pure Malt, can't get a break.

Seriously, In a world where Eau Sauvage, Blenheim Bouquet, and Boucheron PH rule the classic citrus gentleman genre, I truly think, CRAVACHE has something very unique to offer and is often pushed aside at the first sniff of lemon. I doubt most guys ever fully experience the range of notes and subtle transitions. Classy and refined but warm and grounded too- give it an actual skin test.

One that just occurred to me is Cigar, by Remy Latour. I think that with better marketing and packaging (that bottle is Avon cheesy), it would get more respect as a "manly" gourmand. It really is a nice frag.
These are some of my favorites that don't get much attention here on BN. Next to their names, I've written what they smell like to me:

Angeliques sous la Pluie - cedar tree forest in the rain
Lumiere Noire pour Homme - almost indescribable - smells like a silky cloud of cool roses
Bigarade Concentree - most realistic orange fragrance of all time - smells like a man who worked all day picking oranges in the sun
Invasion Barbare - comforting barbershop fragrance - smells like lavender and violets over leather
L'Eau Bleue d'Issey Eau Fraiche - minty roses and transparent patchouli
Ultraviolet Man - musky sugar. diffusive
Eau de Gentiane Blanche - fresh cut grass, iris and freshly washed skin
Around Midnight - chamomile tea, citrus and cool camphorous frankincense

I agree. This is an excellent spicy tobacco/woodsy fragrance that's quite easy to find at discounters, and smells far more expensive.
