Finally i have received my Aoud Al Khaloud from Oman.

this is dark brown oil.. not thick but oily.

this is pure barnyardish oud, very complex and dark animalic , leathery aoud.
i dotn get any roses or other flowers... this is a pure oud oil.
i have read reviews where members complained about the little oud and the overwhelming roses,
so i was afraid to be disapointed.... but no... i am very happy that i bought oud al khaloud because
this is a pure hindi oud without any roses or sandelwood oil.

Oud is most definitely one of the most unique fragrances to decipher on this planet. Congratulations on finding a great variety! There is a website here is the US that has top quality oud oils: oriscent.com. Some of their ouds are so expensive that, pound for pound, it would be much more valuable than gold, even at today's stratospheric prices.

Sounds great. I know oud has been the 'ingredient du jour' lately in many scents, but at least we've seen some outstanding efforts from great perfumers to blend it skillfully into a fine perfume.

I'm sampling this one today and I have the impression that i never smelled any other Oud like this. I remember have tried on my former hobbie days an oud that resembles this one, but it wasn't so dry like it. So this is the barnyard and animalic smell that is attibuted to some varieties of agarwood? Interesting, i would never come to this words by my own. Al Khaloud makes me think of the smell of the bristles of a new rope. It's a dry and sharp smell i think. There is something on it that makes me think of grease, of oily and dark aromas. It doesn't seem to be an easy to like oud aroma, but it's definitely interesting and strong - i thought i'd need to wear my entire sample but only a few drops were enough.
I guess i'll have to wait and see if my skin will reveal the more sweet part of it.
