While I've never been to the island of Java, I imagine that this is what an Indonesian forest floor might smell like; dark, earthy, woody & musky. Zegna's Javanese Patchouli is a very...
First wear test of Neroli Portofino today. Wore it to work with 4 sprays. It was slighltly sharp right out of the gate, so I'm glad I applied at home just before making my drive, as that gave...
I don't recommend everyone to try the Eau de Parfum concentration. The beauty of Roja's perfumes lives in the interaction of a sumptuous base with the heart notes, after a bright start (bergamot...
Guerlain Homme -- lime and minty, light and zesty. A very nice citrus scent, which reminds me of a cold and sparkling drink on a hot summer day while lying on the beach under that big umbrella....
Kanye West feat. Pusha T - Runaway (Extended Album Version)
Sometimes I think you and I are (musically) twin brothers.
This weekend, I have been fighting a cold/flu (while simultaneously celebrating my 40th birthday). I woke up Thanksgiving Day morning (Thursday) in a NyQuil haze...dry mouth, a bit disoriented. I walked into the kitchen and the TV in that room was on. I expected it to be tuned to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on television (which Ray and I watch every year) but instead it was tuned to VH1. And playing, was this Kanye West song/video. I caught the very beginning of it, right at the piano intro...and I stood there in the kitchen sort of transfixed on it (in my pajamas, still waking up) all of the way through the video.
All weekend, I couldn't seem to get it out of my head. So, now, I will always remember this song as the Song Of Thanksgiving Morning 2010. Not that it's particularly nostalgic or holiday-esque (with all of the sort of...f*ck off lyrics) but still...a musical memory has imprinted itself upon this weekend and it's soundtrack is Runaway.
I haven't watched the short film yet, but I plan on watching it this week (I'm on vacation!).
Cool story. I'm not a hip-hop fan, but I was reading the album review on Pitchfork and it got 10/10. I don't think I've ever seen a Pitchfork review with that high of a rating, so I knew I had to at least check it out.
That's where I went to his official site and discovered his 35 minute music video. I watched a few minutes of it, and got hooked with the visuals and storyline and ended up watching the whole thing.
Then I grabbed the album and have been enjoying it. Runaway is my favorite track but I've also been enjoying Dark Fantasy and Devil In A New Dress.

It's not the first time Pitchfork gave a 10/10 score (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitchfo...ums_rated_10.0), they also give 0.0/10. Don't take those Pitchfork reviews too serious
I'm not a hiphop fan either but this album is in my top three albums of the year, next to The National and Arcade Fire.
Dark Fantasy is my favorite track from Kanyes album at this moment.
