Skimming through the reviews of Habit Rouge it's apparent that this scent comes/came in many incarnations, wastly different. I've tried a current EdT. .. There's nothing masculine about this...

I dislike the original AdG, always have because of the bitterness and strange orange synthetic note. The Essenza after one wear won me over, smooth opening, soft woodiness once it settles down....

Disturbingly bad. This opens up obscure, smoky, spicy and what seems like an attempt of a jasmine flower note. I have smelt jasmine notes from higher end perfumery and this is utterly...

This is the first Montale fragrance that I've liked enough to merit purchasing a full bottle. I would like to wax poetic about this frag, but Darvant and others have pretty much captured it's...

not at all, la nuit is boozy cider on the top with hints of chocolate as it slowly becomes more chocolatey and vanilla. Polo double black is nice too, mango with some sort of chocolate mayb its patchouli (last time i wore this was over a year ago when i just began so excuse the horrible description) however i did notice that, the drydown of la nuit did seem similar to polo double black overall. I dunno i was still beginning forgive my possibly wretched description.

They're both very synthetic smelling, and both on the darker spectrum of mainstream designer fragrances, or "black" so to speak. They both also lack in the longevity department. Other than that, they share no similarities on smell itself.
La Nuit is a dark fruity/raspberry(most notably)/berry/tonka bean/vanilla/rose, it's also slightly spicy. To me, it has a bit of a feminine opening, maybe it's the rose and berries that I get from it, but as it dries and the tonka bean dominates, it becomes more masculine.. I still think a woman can pull this off easily.
Polo Double Black on the other hand opens up with a lot of mango, and incense, a little spice, then the coffee notes pick up in the middle, and the nutmeg and woods. It has a certain warmth to it, it also has a strange chalky/crayon type smell or accord.
I'd compare La Nuit more to the original L'Homme, but darker and more sensual, or maybe compare it to Armani Code, but with more going on. Double Black though, is nothing like the original Black, except for that they both share a mango note. Double Black is surprisingly super unique.
