L'Ombre Fauve - a more refined Musc Ravageur?

Been wearing L'Ombre Fauve by Parfumerie Generale for the last couple of days and I can't help but feel this is what Musc Ravageur would be in a more nuanced, refined fragrance world.

I think both are fairly refined. I tend to think of the PG as more of an amber, and MR as cocoa over a light musk. Not directly comparable for me.

I don't think they have similar drydown. MR is less complex but more interesting, while LF smells like Reminicence Patchouli, but less attractive.

Very different, they both have that light animalic muskiness. But i think musk ravageur is sweeter, simpler, and more refined. L'ombre fauve is ambery, smoky with a patchouli dry down, its nice but too weak, and patchouli bores me

I prefer L'Ombre Fauve- it is much more ambery.

This! Except for the "patchouli bores me". I think the musty quality of the patchouli in this can get quite boring or a bit much after a while. There's a lot of patchouli involved in L'Ombre Fauve to my nose.

Not similar IMO. I prefer Musc Ravageur hands down..

I think both these scents have their place, They were never supposed to be compared, just two high quality, musky scents.

well, on the surface i can relate to what you are referring to.. ..but thats just superficial observation... they are remarkably different once you wear it...

MR is a lot more refined. As a musk, it's sophisticated and complete without much ado and clutter. Fauve is amber and about amber. They smell very different to me.

I find them to be quite different. Ravageur, to my nose, takes Musc Koublai Khan and makes it wearable. It's more of a dry music with some added frills. L'ombre fauve is a totally different beast -- literally.

Also find them quite different.
