The Question-Answer Game - Page 82

Have you ever fantasized or wondered what it would be like to live in a converted barn, church, or other building originally used for some other purpose? ( I've always wanted to try out a lighthouse )

I like the idea of living in a converted oast house - one of the circular ones. Or a barn conversion. I think it has to do with the high ceilings. A lighthouse would be cool, though my hamstrings ache just thinking about all those stairs!

Do you have a favourite artistic movement ?
Impressionist period.

Would you rather be a member of a world championship sports team or be the champion of an individual sport?
Champion of an individual sport. This way I contain all glory.

If you were a heart surgeon and you only had one heart at a time of crisis. Two patients direly needed the heart. A 4 year old girl (with 2 parents and only an older brother and parents cannot conceive more children). And a middle aged father with 3 children between 7 and 12 years old and the wife has no educational background.

Who'd you give the heart to? Otherwise both perish immediately.

I'd have to flip a coin.

At the end of the day, going forward, what cliche drives you crazy?
I hear what you're saying ...

Are there any sayings or descriptions that, as far as you are aware, were invented by or are used only by you or your family?

(e.g., in my household something that isn't quite right is described as 'a bit French milk', following my son's point blank refusal to drink fresh milk on his first trip to France because it tasted slightly different to English milk).
I can't think of any used exclusively by my family.

Which room of your home do you feel the most relaxed in?

Devilcat, I'm just wondering about the use of "different to." American English always use "from" or "than" in this construction. But I've seen a number of British posters use the "to." Is this fairly standard?

Yesterday's had a yellow/brown herb gravy unlike any I'd had before - quite awesome. I guess I've become a redneck connoisseur of the stuff. My wife usually gets liver and onions at the same places.

Red, I didnt know the Amish made Chicken Fried Steak. I have a little Amish cookbook that I bought on ebay years ago. Its adorable, with little drawings and sayings in German. I dont use it for the recipes, I just like it looking at it. Ill bet there is a recipe for chicken friend steak in there.

When is the last time you saw the FedEx man?

Oh not for a long time - it seems UPS has taken over !

Is anyone on a diet ?
No but I do exercise more now than I used to. Oddly enough, I also feel better now than I used to.

SQ
Supposedly I am on a diet, but I have been cheating so much lately that I feel like I’m kidding myself. I do not cheat with wheat because that makes me feel very ill, but I’ve been ingesting way too much sugar and dairy. I’m not supposed to have either.

Any interesting coincidences lately?
Not lately. Everything going normally as planned with no surprises.

How much of a fluctuation do you see in your weight over a period of a month?

It is gets fairly irritating not being able to log in.

I find them intriguing and they keep me entertained but tend not to give them much credence.

How easy is it for you to express what you are feeling deep inside verbally?

American Idol (I confess). And I couldn't tell you exactly why.

We have a water well here, and the water is wonderful, the well is slow but steady, thank goodness. ( we had trouble with it awhile back, and had to "pull" the well, replace leathers, etc. quite the commotion ) I don't buy individual plastic water bottles at all, it makes me crazy when I see so many people buying huge flats of them, their carts are full. I can see the need for it if there's a dire emergency - tornado or hurricane warnings, etc. Here, we have the very occasional tornado warning, but other than that, I can see few reasons for buying so many. The occasional bottle, I can see, in a pinch. When we were having trouble with the well, I did buy a few of the large refillable types, and I would use those. I still have them stored, just in case. - that water well problem last year was actually a real pain in the butt, I guess you could say we were "fortunate" that it happened when there was snow on the ground since I would go out and bring in pails of snow to melt for flushing the toilet, and having good old fashioned sponge baths. I can hardly tell you how happy I was the day the well was back in service. I appreciate good water!

Favorite celestial object? The Moon. It endlessly fascinates me how much the moon affects everything. I sometimes even find myself kind of daydreaming about the moon and the tides, the moon is something I can almost feel.

Have you ever fantasized or wondered what it would be like to live in a converted barn, church, or other building originally used for some other purpose? ( I've always wanted to try out a lighthouse )

I appreciate your answer, and I AGREE about the bottles everywhere. I have a home delivery service, which is delightful as they refill and clean my bottles. We fill our tote bottles to go out. But well water is the bomb!!!!!

I fantasize about refurbishing some old CHURCH or FIREHOUSE quite often!

Hi Forlorn. I think it's an acceptable form in British English, although don't know if it's standard. 'Different from' is probably more common, and I expect for some it's the correct grammar (I'm afraid rules of grammar aren't my strong suit )

Exercise for thighs and butt? Cycling or hill walking.

The latter

What percent of your out-of-pocket expenses would you say are paid with a credit card?
While it would be excellent to have lifelong top class healthcare, my vote has to be for tax exemption. The less access the government has to my life the better.

do you prefer to exercise at home or in a public gym?
I hate exercise either way – unless it is doing something fun that doesn’t feel like exercise – but I go to a public gym now because there is a trainer I like very much who encourages me and will call me if I don’t come in. Keeps me at it. Which I need.

Public gym. Like the social interaction.

Are you quick to anger ?
Yes but thankfully I can control it.

How judgmental , of others, are you?
I think as human beings we are all judgmental to some extent but we can keep it in check . It's a matter of reminding oneself - some days I am forgetful of the reminder !

Do you procrastinate with things that you dislike doing or do you tackle them straight away ?
Very judgmental, unfortunately. I am not proud of it.

Edit: tackle them right away
