Favorite thing to do during a blizzard?
Oops, answered the date question first. Anyway, not much to do during a blizzard, at least for me, so I stay at home, turn up the heating, cuddle up in bed, maybe listen to some music/watch a film/read a book, while also having a warming drink.

BTW: Does anyone know what happened to Hillaire? She seems to have completely dropped off the site.

Which is worse, when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you?
Probably wouldn't let the latter happen. The former would be worse for me.

How do you know when it's the right time for you to leave a party?
It depends, if I don't feel comfortable and is extremely awkward then I'll just leave with friends and move on else where. Or if I have a bad feeling that something is going to happen I also leave. The answer varies greatly for me.

SQ
I will leave when I feel uncomfortable.

How do you determine right or wrong?
For me it's when in the wee hours, I see mouths opening and closing but can't make out anything they're saying.

@teerose - If I don't feel right saying or doing it, it's wrong for me. I also draw on what I learned
and gleaned from my discussions with my parents while I was growing up.

When you are invited to a wedding, is it customary in your area to give a gift to the married couple or an envelope with money inside?
a gift is optional (usually the married couple give a list what they want to their best friends) but most married couple would prefer only an envelope with money inside in my country.

Poverty and inequality

Is it possible to know, without a doubt, what is good and what is evil?
No. Doubt always exists because I think sometimes the definitions can be blurred or interpreted differently.

What bad habit are you proud to have overcome?
Eating fast food. I stopped in 2002. Actually this summer it will have been a decade since I dedcided to stop. In which I've eaten fast food only about 14 times which were out of sheer necessity. And more recently I refrain from heavy meals after the sun sets.

Its a nice story about how I came to realize I no longer want to eat fast food. I went to the states to study in 2000 and like most freshman and sophomore students I ate a lot fast food. The first two years went by fast and visits to home were mostly short so I didn't notice the difference in food. It was not until the end of the second year when I visited home for about a month did I realize how good our food was. Its in this year that I developed a taste for vegetables. Prior to that I'd mostly focus on beef, chicken and fish and rice and breads. I took vegetables for granted. But that summer it was like a revelation. Everything just tasted wonderful.
Home cooked. Fresh. Vegetables. Fruit. Healthy. Rich. REAL!. I decided then and there that I wouldn't eat fast food. It was a bit difficult because my friends still ate fast food but I managed by planning lunch/dinner with friends who preferred eating at proper restaurants or we'd cook at home.

If it's more of a bad habit, I am proud to have overcome a certain (albeit mild) shopping addiction and being quite careless with my finances, which, thankfully, I am not any longer.

What is your favorite light desert?

Well, I wouldn't call it proud but feeling satisfied, drinking alcohol. I didn't drink all that much, compared to most people, but it's nice to leave it behind. The main problem was other people wanting to drink. I think I never got bought so many drinks as when I wanted to stop. I didn't stop completely and still will have a wine with the girlfriend, etc but hangovers, getting drunk down the pub and such are a thing of the past.

Writing a post on BN! Not sure if I should be getting so engrossed in posting, but that's the truth!

One of the interesting things about people's yards in the western US is the fact many are "natural" - people just take whatever natural grasses or plants come. Others work hard to maintain some semblance of order.

Which would you, or do you, prefer?

Looking back on your past, were you a rebel or a conformist?
Stylish.

Same Q
A little of both. In my younger years I had conformed a bit and just wanted and accepted fitting in. Sticking out was something I didn't want to do, and it would raise attention. But, a part of growing up is breaking through those walls and truthfully seeing the world in your own eyes, thereby forming your own opinions.

Overall, I was both.

SQ!
Never seen myself as rebellious, it's just that large parts of the population are, and without any proper reason, extremely conformist and easily worried.

If it's what I think you mean (like the iMac), I think they're pretty neat. Not portable enough for me, but they're pretty amazing for a lot of people.

Which do you prefer - a dog that sheds but needs no brushing, or a dog with no shedding that must be brushed? (You can use a cat to answer if there is such a thing as a shedless cat).
