Tom Ford Extreme vs M7 YSL

Thread Starter
I find both similar, but I prefer Tom ford version. seems richer in that tobaco/leather notes i'm picking up. This is only based on the samples I got.

You're thoughts..?

I don't find much similarity - perhaps in vibe, but note-wise, they're nothing alike. TFE is dark fruits and patchouli (with a host of other notes including saffron, leather, etc.). M7 is bergamot, oud and vetiver, amber and musk, among other things. They both have a darkness about them, despite the citrus top notes, and they're both great fragrances.

I prefer the smell of Tom Ford Extreme but M7 wins the show with longevity

I don't find them similar. I own and like both, but if I had to pick one over the other I would go with M7.

I don't find them similar. I prefer M7 though. Tom Ford Extreme smells generic.

I own both and love both so can understand how the similarities could be seen. Although to make a comparison in sports terms. In the world of all sports it would be comparing baseball to cricket. Sure they both throw a ball and use a bat but they are two different sports altogether, but have similarities.

I agree that they are closer in vibe than they are in smell. I prefer M7...

M7 any day.

Both are good, but not similar. M7 wins for me

Not much similarity for me. I like both but given a choice I would opt for M7.

I'll have M7 as my SotE because of this thread.

I think that they may have similar themes, but not similarties between the smell. Both have some which is woody, dry, but still have a dose of sweet notes. In M7, i have an impression that what makes the syrup-wood accord is the amber and musks at the base, combined to the woody oud note. Tom Ford Extreme has more of something party sweet fruit, part dry fruit at the opening, rich reminds me of plum, but which develops to a woody base with something leathery. Tom Ford Extreme, tough, is too light and didn`t lasted me more than 6 hours, while M7, even in the recent version, was intenser and lasted more than it.

I prefer Tom Ford Extreme, but it just doesn't have enough oomph or longevity for the price.

I do not find these similar.....Both are nice.....I prefer M7!!!

TFE...far preferable.
Not with me. The TFE longevity beats M7 by about 10 miles.
I get good longevity with TFE, just not alot of projection. It's not bad, but not on par with M7 as far as longevity or projection

I love both of them but don't find them very similar.
