Why should it matter based on your age? Just wear what you like.

Both are dated 80's and 90's, but Antaeus right now is post-dated (80's are back).

Completely different scent categories. How about getting a decant of each and then you can enjoy both.

For me it would be Egoiste all the way but like so many have said before me, try them both and see which you like the best.

I agree with mrclmind, but if I had to choose a "younger" scent its Egoiste, although I would buy Antaeus because I like it better. The average younger crowd would be less offended with Egoiste, though, IMHO

I started wearing Egoiste when I was 16. Still do from time to time (I'm 30).

Personally I didn't like Egoiste, although I'm thinking I might need to give it another chance....

You're not asking the question correctly I think.
What has your age to do with your choice? Do you think one of them will smell better now than when you'll get older? I don't think so. How old you think you must be to wear this or that? How many years you have to wait to wear any of them? Does it make sense to you? To me it doesn't.

I don't see any relation between age or the way you dress and perfumes, just wear what makes you feel good and send to hell anyone who tells you diferent. My advice is to leave any prejudice you may have or someone may have teached you, aside.
The only reasonable relation you should establish while wearing a fragance is with weather just because diferent temperatures provoque diferent behaviours in the same fragrance.
My experience with Antaeus and Egoiste is they are fragances that achieve better results when weared with colder temperatures. Both have dificult in breathing with hot weather and I never got good results in summer. They steel have good longevity there but they just don't breathe well and behave much like a body lotion or a skin scent or whatever you want to call nobody noticing you're wearing something unless they give you a hug.

Finally my advice is if you like them both try to get both. If you can't have both at the same time just wear one and next change to the other. If you really want to choose one, just take your time and make your move.

The final advice - There choices in live that is better to be made by ourselves. Never by others.

I love both but i prefer Egoiste. Antaeus and Egoiste are the class in a bottle. But strangely enough I havent used my Antaeus in ages! It just stands there all dusty. But concerning this age dilemma: I bought my first Antaeus when I was 16 years old. That was my first Chanel. So my advice to you is to forget about that age thing. That's something that I've learned from Basenotes. Trust your nose and use whatever you want.

If I had to choose one for you, it would be Egoiste. It's fruitier and less animalic. I suppose it makes it more easily wearable and more in tune with the current sensibilities for most people. In that snese, Antaeus would be better suited for special occasions and night time as opposed to everyday.

Egoiste. But if you like the way Antaeus smells better, then buy it! In fact, just get a 1.7 oz of both!

Bro......I'm 54 years young and I wear current as well as old school juice. No one has ever said to me " Hey man, you can't be wearing that young man fragrance because you're too damn old".

The "thought life" of other people is truly worthless when it comes to scent. Your thoughts are what count.

I have had Egoiste, Egoiste Concentree, Antaeus and Antaeus Sport. Completely different but all good. I love Antaeus more because of the beeswax accord, but you need to wear what you want whenever you want.

Start a trend. Be young and wear old. It's all good.

I agree with this too. Egoiste "seems" more like modern scents that many your age are accustomed to smelling. It's not quite. But it's close. Antaeus is a great scent and if you like it, you could rock it. But some in your age range won't relate to it at all. It would make you stand out.

Put me down though as the third person who thinks you should get both. Get small bottles or decants.

Though I've crossed into the "mature" side, I can certainly understand your concerns with "smelling your age."

But if you hang in here awhile, you'll develop your own sense of scent and self and wear whatever you want.

Aromi: maturity is liberating in the scent world indeed. I get to wear whatever I want and not concern myself about it. Though one girlfriend gives me major shyt about Vintage Tabarome. She whistles the Old Spice theme when I wear it. (The HORROR). See maxxx, it never ends...

I have to agree with get both even if you go the 'large' decant route.
To me, asking which one you should get is like asking us if you should exist in the light or the dark exclusively.
Doubtful you wanna be in a single category all the time regardless of your age.

I own Egoiste and will own Antaeus too, no doubt about it. Go for Antaeus, Egoiste is more ˝serious˝, whatever that means...

lol. I guess it's easy for me to dispense advice about not caring what others think because of my age. That's part of middle age and beyond. There was a time however when I did care.........so.........I understand where the OP is coming from. I simply wish he could get to "don't care" mentality. It's very liberating.

i would get both, i would too but i keep hearing about how antaeus is no longer the same which makes me hesitant to buy it but i do enjoy the smell. Personally i have egoiste currently, but thats because i love the smell of it. I heard the reformulation for egoiste wasn't as harsh as antaues but i don't know haha

My answer is clearly Egoiste. I own it, like it better and find that Egoiste is more suitable for a younger crowd IMHO. I had Antaeus, liked it, but I rarely wore it. For my nose Antaeus was "older" if you can say it in that way. Still, test them and chose which one you like better. Or owning both is not a crime though

I have both. I think Antaeus is a bit colder and aloof while Egoiste is warmer - I have no doubts that you'll get more compliments from Egoiste, which is more a crowd pleaser.

Antaeus is my favorite. I suggest you sample them first, as they are very different fragrances. What vibe to you want to project?

They are both high quality scents. Egoiste is more modern, Antaeus is more accessible. On my skin, Egoiste is a little "detached" smelling and more like a great pipe smell or room scent. Does not jibe with my chemistry. I do love to smell it, though. It's not a good scent for me, and that's why I have it on the swap/sell board.
