Guerlain Kadine - cleaned and pics taken

Hi all,

I had a blast cleaning my Kadine - taking all the age-old grime from her shoulders and stopper. A gleaming beauty she is now, sparkling in all the crystal richness.

Sadly the paper sticker on the front is darkish ochre and the letters have worn by the gazillion times her owner must have taken this perfume flacon in her hands to apply some costly drops....
The bottle is nearly empty.
There is only a sort of a balmy residue, wich does smell, not scent.
There are some shadows of a resin scent, some coumarine, a tad of musky vanilla- but all this is so far away...
It is only a faint memory of what may have been a complex and richt perfume about 100 years ago.

And I can tell you - it IS a strange piece of time-travel to have this flacon in hands, imagine the time around 1911 with all it's political, cultural and fashion differences to today - and imagine the setting in which this bottle stood to wait for usage.

Here are two pictures of my treasure as some eye-candy - more of these and details you can see on my blog - see sig. line please, if you like.

How beautiful, and unusual. Any info on the notes? What does it smell like to you? Ok, I see it is only residue. Too bad. Still lovely, though!

@ kumquat : Sadly the remnats of the perfume are only a shade of what must have been a gorgeous fragrance.
After some sniffing and suffering the strange "Maggi" scent (German soup seasoning) I found a few notes of coumarine, some remnants of vanilla and a bit of musk perhaps. All in all it is only a hint of a balmy and resinous basenote, the hay-like coumarine is rather strong still - but the soup seasoning note is really really unpleasant.
I had a hard time to wash it off my wrist though. It stuck quite some...

That's a shame, but it is quite an unusual name. I've never heard of it. Thanks for putting this up.

Coumarine is carcinogenic,I hope you know...

Nonetheless, a great find!
