Question Re: Givenchy Pi - benzoin/ vanilla?

Hey guys,

I recently picked up Givenchy Pi and I'm really loving it. Perfect for winter/ holiday season. I had heard that Pi is straight up vanilla. It's note breakdown lists no vanilla, only "benzoin crystals" in the base. So, in the drydown, am I really smelling the benzoin and not vanilla? Are the two that close? Anyone know for sure if there really is no vanilla used in Pi? Thanks!

Benzoin has quite a weak scent. There is no way that Pi is powered by benzoin. It may have benzoin in it, but that's not what you are smelling.

Yes, benzoin smells sweet and like vanilla - however, that pertains to the resin type (styrax). I'm sure the crystalline form used in Pi is synthesized to capture the same effect, perhaps making it more pronounced.

Thanks for the great answers. Using these benzoin crystals really makes scent more unique. It's still fairly lateral, but unique nonetheless. Glad to have discovered it.

Ppl say it's feminine or even unisex, but I don't find it that way. To me it's a masculine scent and it's a scent that will always be part of my collection.
