Oh, there'll be photos for our beloved-but-distant BN family! These aren't the kind of paranoid shops that restrict photography (cough*Barneys*cough*Chanel).

I just received a nice update from the hostess of our premier event, Shannon at Avery:
I am getting so excited about our event on Friday night! We have wine, prosecco, and some little noshes for you guys to munch that wont interfere with our perfume smelling. We will have a little gift bag for each attendee and we have some great fragrances in stock!

I am planning on being here at around 4pm. My perfume specialist, Barbara Herman, will be here all day in case anyone arrives early and wants to stop by. I will be at another event all day at one of the local schools here, but Barbara is writing a book on fragrance and is EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGABLE about all of our brands. I am lucky to have her

For some other dinner suggestions, in walking distance you have Cochon, Emerils, Herbsaint, Tommys are just to name a few Emerils is probably your most expensive, but you can look at all the menus online. Also, there is a great wine bar called W.I.N.O., which stands for the Wine Institute of New Orleans. They have all kinds of wines to taste and you can go around and serve yourself. It is a great place to have a cocktail.

Please let me know if there is any other information that I can give you regarding dinner for Friday night or the event. I look forward to meeting you soon!

My Best,

Shannon

All systems are go. We are clear for launch.

I am counting on most people going to ''Napoleon's'' because I probably won't make it at 4. Do we get updates if that plan changes?

You can call my cell once you're in town, FrouFrou. Since I'm walking over to Avery from the train station and my husband is taking the bags in a cab to our lodging, he will have the phone until he and I rendezvous. He may not go directly to Avery, but instead meet us at Napoleon's. Alternatively, you could call the Avery shop directly to learn how things are progressing: (504) 522-7102.

We'd like to see your wedding dress. Why don't you wear that, Frou?

Ehm, my wedding dress is still back in the Netherlands, besides, I would be worried about being overdressed!
But, I have printed photos and I am making a photo book, because I am still in full honeymoon mode and I plan to bore your pants off about my wonderful wedding!
Two more days..... My supplies came yesterday and I will make a large supply of night cream to share out today! And I have been decanting a few samples. And I am thinking about what to bring... And our huge apartment is booked, and the Q is looking forward to it too...
We plan to be in time for dinner, I have already printed maps, so we can make a bee line to Napoleon!

Does anyone want a bottle of Gelsomino Nobile? I won it on a blog and it's not to my taste. 50ml bottle with about 5-10 ml gone because the blogger took a decant. I will swap for something of equivalent value or sell for about $80. Let me know and I will bring it with me.
None of my business really, but take it along anyway -- there might be a taker if it is not to your taste. Do not sell it -- you have won it, it was free to start with. Just MNSHO.
Safe travels, everyone!

We look forward to photos and your stories!
Have a great time everyone! I wish I could be there with you ...

To my friends. I will still be teaching at 4pm tomorrow. I would like to join you at the Napoleon House, but that's not the "official" place everyone is going, so I guess I'll play it by ear. Looking forward to meeting you. If any of you know you're going to the Napoleon House at around 6:30, please let me know. Thanks!

Everyone else attending, take a sniff for the rest of us and share pictures!

Hi y'all. Just a quick post (because I'm pooped) that Day 1 of the Great New Orleans Sniff of 2011 was a great success. Lots of photos taken (by people other than me) I'm sure they'll be posted eventually.....
we had a toast to Grant at dinner, too.
Hey! I so enjoyed meeting some of our membership tonight at Napoleon House! We were discussing how to type in names of fragrances in the wardrobe for fragrances that are not yet in the frag directory. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, go to my wardrobe and see all the stuff I've typed in.) About a year ago I finally found out how. Go to this link: http://www.basenotes.net/oldwardrobe/settings

Can't wait to see everyone tomorrow. Love, Lionheart
post #396 of 481
Nice to hear about your experiences, bunch!

Great link, lionheart, I forgot all about it and HAVE to work on mine.

I have SO ENJOYED meeting and getting to know my fragrance peeps. See below some pics. Sorry for the unwieldiness. I had planned to just refer you to pic folder in my profile, but I can't get these pics to upload to that album!

Lionheart, rtamara, knit at nite, frou frou, Lilybelle, matildaben, Quarry, C Rose, Mike Perez, and Chloepuff, in the courtyard of Bourbon French Parfums, where the owner and SAs hosted a wonderful dessert reception for us. (This is L to R, as well as L to R can be in a picture like this. It's L to R, based on the exact position of everyone's heads. LOL)

same people, but silly

Lilybelle, Me, C Rose, and Matildaben, at Hové, where the owner and SAs provided a wine and refreshments reception for us.

Knit at nite, Frou Frou, Mike Perez, Matildaben, and Quarry, at Hové

Mike Perez and Me, at BFP

You all are awesome! Thanks for the good memories. I needed this today.
ENJOYED the pics immensely! You are obviously having a blast! So nice to get faces to names.
I have had a wonderful day! I have been trying to put some order in the goodie bags, stuff I brought, and the many, many samples I got! I got sample baggies especially geared towards my test list (which seriously needs updating now) and a bottle of Aperçu from C Rose!
For those who want to come and brunch at our apartment, we got food, (nothing fancy, had to go to a convenience store), and I think Quarry is bringing the huge bags with samples.

What a wonderful series of photos! You people are obviously having fun and enjoying each other's company.

Same as devilcat -- wish I were there.

Thanks for the photos! Looks like you had a wonderful time. Wish I had been able to make it.
Thanks so much for posting the pictures, Lionheart! (Not shown are four VERY good sports -- Mr. Quarry, Mr. Froufrou, Mr. Lilybelle and Mr. Chloepuff!)
It really was a great time -- there was bonding over perfume, of course, as well as finding common interests and common experiences in careers, bunnies, parrots, wedding dresses, and more!
Quarry did the most amazing job imaginable planning everything. The schedule was jam packed and we were welcomed with goodie bags, snacks and drinks everywhere we went. And as a perfect top note, the weather was beautiful too!
And if you can believe it, several of us made purchases that we did not actually *NEED*!
Anyway, it was an such an honor and delight for me to meet these lovely people!
(I'll post a few photos tomorrow, and describe a few wonderful items I got!)
(P.S. mikeperez has a most brilliant idea for a get together next year...)

How utterly wonderful for you all to meet up and have such a wonderful time!

Thank you for sharing the pics!

Nothing better than having a group of fragrance buffs all in the same place--sharing our passions!

Lionheart, looking so dapper with your tie. You are a dandy, to be sure!

I've always wanted to be a dandy, but didn't know if I qualified. Strangely I did some reading about a few months ago. Apparently, you have to be VERY thin, VERY tall, and VERY good-looking, and then, of course, dress with all the frills, etc. They did say, however, that, depending on the person, one doesn't have to be "VERY" in all those traits.....you can mix and match them. LOLOL Thanks, Prim, you are always so sweet.

I did have a wonderful time with the BNers, and Quarry was so wonderful to arrange things so nicely.

Tall, thin, rich, male, good-looking??? Bah!

M'dear Lionheart, it's all in the attitude!
Lionheart, I think you are very good-looking with or without all the qualifying frills.

What did the four Mr.s do while you were all sniffing and having piles of fun? Bonding between themselves or sniffing with you?

Quarry, please put in words your experiences already.
Oh, what a huggable bunch of people. I am even more envious now. Your faces are all glowing with fun!! Haste ye back now to tell us all about it.
Dandy-ism is not about being rich or superthin, it's about style and having a special air, and personal presence, and I agree that Lionheart qualifies as a dandy; and the nice kind too!

I will have to sort out my photo's today, I had the most wonderful time. I was very sorry to leave, and although it was only a day and a half, it felt like we had been there for half a week.
I think the non-fragrance husbands were heroes for suffering it all. Mine gets sick if he is in a perfume shop so he had to remain outside and be bored.

Quarry arranged the most amazing day for us! It was just the right balance between the visits and free time to roam a bit too. It is really fabulous the way we were treated, everywhere.
Matildaban, how nice you posted a picture of the gentleman at Saks, I thought he was a most gracious host! I like the little shopper we got at Saks, and they put some very good samples in it too. the lade at the Jo Malone counter we talked to later gave us all the different Jo Malone samples.
We got a very cute giftbag with samples at Bourbon, but I really needed to buy their sampler, and a bottle of KusKus.
I also needed to buy a perfume at Hové of course. It is inevitable, when surrounded by enablers.

I need to stop rambling and do some work and get my photo's sorted and put up here now!
Love the photos, love each and every one of those beautiful faces!Lionheart, you are indeed a dandy.FrouFrou, look at you, dressed perfectly for the city of New Orleans! You all look great and so happy!

Please keep pics&stories coming! So glad to hear(and see)how nice everything was for you!

You all look so beautiful and happy !

and nice food too

what a wonderful time you have had !
Well, I guess it's official. I'm a dandy! Something else to add to my resume! Thanks y'all.
I hope some of you will post reviews/impressions (official or un-) of the fragrances at Hové and Bourbon French-- just from looking at the websites, they all sound so delightful!
My nose was tuckered out by the time we got to Hove, so I couldn't decide and didn't buy anything. Later that evening, I was liking the wrist that had (I think) Rue Royale, and they were closed Sunday, so I am planning to call them back and order a sampler set with that and a couple of others.
