New Fragrance, Suggestions?

Hello enthusiasts,

I have been reading these forums a bit recently in search of my next fragrance but i'm finding it hard to find something that combines all the prerequisites.

I currently have D&G The One and John Varvatos Classic in my posession.
I like The One for daily use but it seems to be too weak for a night out.
John Varvatos Classic has a great scent but it lasts 2-3 hours on me so it's not ideal for a night out.

Basically I'm looking for something to wear out in the evenings, I like the woody scent John Varvatos offers but I would like more longevity.
It would also be a bonus if it was available from UK stores, I can give it a smell first then.

Thanks for reading.

EDIT: Perhaps this ones in the wrong forum, just noticed the "Just Starting Out" forum seems to be more the Q&A side of things, my apologies!

Give The One Gentleman or John Varvatos 10th Anniversary Edition a try. Being that you are already a fan of the others, both of the ones I have mentioned have excellent longevity. Right now, I am totally enamored with The One Gentleman.

Gucci Envy - last forever, very suitable for winter/evening. Well regarded on here, for what that's worth.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm going to visit boots tomorrow and try "The One Gentleman" and a few of the Gucci fragrances.

What's your budget like?

I don't really have a set budget, £60/100ml is the point where I would start to question the value for money of the product.
On anything really expensive I would have to go for a small bottle/sampler.

From what i've gathered on these forums the expensive fragrances are the niche products, creed and such?

Yes, niche fragrances are usually considerably more expensive than designer fragrances, unless you know specifically which niche fragrance you are looking for and then you can look around for a deal.

Terre d'Hermés by Hermés could be worth sniffing out. It is around your budget, and you can always go for a 50ml to save some coin.

Others designer fragrances I would suggest trying:

M7 by Yves Saint Laurent
Story by Paul Smith
Visit by Azzaro
A*Men Pure Malt by Thierry Mugler
Body Kouros by Yves Saint Laurent
Ambre Nuit Cologne by Christain Dior
Bulgari Black by Bulgari
Inside Man by Trussardi
La Nuit De l'Homme by Yves Saint Laurent
Mandarina Duck Pure Black by Mandarina Duck
Prada Amber Pour Homme by Prada

A recent one that has been getting a lot of love around here is Halston Man Amber by Halston. Though I'm not sure if it's being sold in the UK yet....

+1 TdH, good recommendation. Big time projection though, so try it out on your skin first.

Hinoki
Laurel
CdG 2 for men (more incense than woody)
to name a few. A tad expensive but worth every penny.

Yes, Guerlain should have been mentioned. I like Vetiver, Derby, Habit Rouge (pre-2000 formulation), but I'm not familiar with Jicky or Heritage yet.

Also CdG- Vettiveru. This one is excellent value and lasts until the next day on me.
