Good foundation for fair "Irish/English" 54 year old freckled skin

I'd search but the search function is broken... My requirements:

Non-oily (was using Lancome Maqui-Libre but my skin has changed since I got the fdn in the ... yes ... 90's.)
Good to give translucent coverage / even out skintone
(which is pinkish and tends to break out in reddish blotches)
Affordable ($20-$45 max?)
Won't go "clabbered" in other words break up on skin
Won't clog pores readily

I have that "combination" skin with dry spots round the eyebrows/bridge of nose and near the ears, and oily nose/chin.

My skin is starting to show signs of age and I'm not afraid of my freckles showing... they're not dark on my face anyway...

Recommendations? (also a good cleanser for my skin type would be helpful. Moisturizing yet not oily?)

I will say Bobbi Brown does a really good range shades wise of foundations. I am Scots/Irish/English with a bit of Viking in there. LOL I am fair but have warm undertones, not the true pink undertones of the Irish.

Have to say I find Lancome does not have a good shade range.
Prescriptives was the best for texture and shade choices, really missed.

I would go to the Bobbi Brown counter and get them to colour match you and get a sample to try over a few days. Always better than paying for a full size and not being happy.

Cleansers, well don't over strip your skin as it will compensate and make it more oily. A muslin cloth is great for removing cleanser and gives a gentle exfoliate as well. Clarins are really good at giving samples out to try. Not sure how easy it is to buy Liz Earle in the US? She does a cleanser with a muslin cloth and thousands sweat by it, simple and does not strip the skin.

Clinique "Even Better" foundation might be worth a try. I have similar skin type & age as you & this one suits me. Also, the consultants will decant samples for you into tiny jars, so that you can test with a few full wearings at home to get the best colour match. It contains SPF15, coverage is quite good without looking "cakey" or heavy.

Makeup For Ever HD (MUFE) is one of my favorite foundation. Cetaphil Cleanser is hard to beat, especially in conjunction with the Clarasonic facial system. The Clarasonic (Mia) is amazing and would make all the difference in the appearance of your skin.

If you would consider minerals, I can't recommend Alima mineral foundation highly enough. Takes a bit of testing to find the right shade, but the formula is lovely. I have combination skin with an oily t-zone that makes many foundations separate on my skin and oxidise, and the occasional oubreak of dry flakiness, which is usually emphasised by make-up. This one doesn't separate on me, and I don't see the flakes when I'm wearing it even when I know they're there. Kind on the skin, no irritation, no break-outs, looks natural, coverage is very buildable, from sheer to high.

Estée Lauder Resilent Lift Extreme SPF 15 - the cheapiest foundation of the ones for marture skin.
